Strange...I went to the PPM and typed in gnumeric and the packages came right up.

I downloaded libgoffice from the posted debian link, and it includes the requested lib:

Code: Select all

/usr/lib/libgoffice-0.8.so.8
/usr/lib/libgoffice-0.8.so.8.0.17

5.X.3.2.9 series will go through kernel recompile with latest aufs 3.2 version and aufs3-util latest version. It will be soon in table.
PPM will be updated at the same time.
There might be improvements coming to the PPM usage.
Yeah. Puppy land is somewhat disorganized. Thats why I like it. And at least I try to respond to the feedback.

Picture Slideshow

#138 Post by sszindian »

jpeps: I didn't type-in for Gnumeric, just looked in regular 'Business' topic (and all the rest).

pemasu: You're doing a fine job with Exprimo (and helping all the other distro's also... hang in there!)
--------------------------------------------------------

Slideshow-1.0.pet from:

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... e7e77c0f40

Works fine in Exprimo.

After installing the .pet, you can right/click on the slideshow file icon that installs itself in root.
(example: slideshow-1.png)

Open it as 'text' (or with Geany) and modify the code to:
(example: slideshow-2.png) where 'root/Pictures' can be any file you choose where you have your pictures stored. (Don't forget to SAVE the modification)

The '10' on that line can also be changed to a timing for the next picture to be displayed... the original code is a '5' (after installation) which I found to be to fast.

ESC (Escape) Key gets you back to your desktop.

I have well over 200 pictures with various extensions (.jpg, .pnm, etc.,)in my Pictures Folder and Slideshow doesn't seem to mind a bit.

As I say, it works very nice but if someone could modify it to work automatically when your screen goes blank after 10-minutes, and de-activate when the mouse (or a key) is moved or pressed, that would even be better?

(Slideshow-1.0.pet works also in Racy, Luci-THD)

Might be a good one for the PPM?

Dpup Exprimo 5.X.3.2.11 has been uploaded. Kernel 3.2.11 (the latest atm) with core 2 and up optimization, hyperthreading, SMP, multicore-scheduler, hibernation enabled. Firmwares hopefully updated for kernel 3.2.X
Aufs-3.2 and aufs-util-3.2 from latest git commit. This aufs should fix the hanging bug.

Several updates and improvements. Firstrun and delayedrun hopefully syncs now. Tempicon tray app, Sfs_load, Firstrun, RShDepsCheck rox right click, Retrovol updated. Several small script updates.

Gtk-youtube-viewer added, enables youtube video searching in gui and launches them in separate mplayer screen.
Firefox 11

Took the quick and easy route first, manual upgrade of the frugal install from 5.X.3.2.9 to 5.X.3.2.11.Other than needing to reset some desktop stuff.... icons and wallpaper ..... everything appears to have survived and is still working.
Doing some testing on the new Wary then I intend to delete the savefile and try a fresh install. Looks good so far.

5.X.3.2.11

#143 Post by Jim1911 »

Hi pemasu,

Thanks for the new kernel.

Unfortunately wireless network does not work on my laptop and I am unable to generate diagnostics data with Frisbee because it is grayed out and will not accept input. Also for some reason, radky's System Information would not generate any data.
  • Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 1030
    KERNEL MODULE: iwlagn
Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller
    KERNEL MODULE: r8169

Cheers,
Jim

Jim, PupSysInfo is working OK here. Is it possible your download of 5.X.3.2.11 is corrupt?

Pemasu, it seems the /usr/local/jwmconfig2/panel-buttons executable in 5.X.3.2.11 is 01micko's version 0.1 rather than his updated 0.2.

Jim1911. Your wireless is supported by new iwlwifi.ko and I hope I did change the firmware folder for it.
Iwlagn.ko has been deprecated and you cant find it anymore with this kernel. But did I include right firmware folder, hmm..I need to check.

James C...if you sroll down that error box...You will find suggestion what to do with missing module. Gtk-youtube-viewer works for me so I cant check what module is the one it complains.

If there comes more weird problems....after checking the md5sum of the download. I suspect that my build is not sane. I have now and then the woof corrupt and then the only way to create sane build is to start from scratch...download new fossil content.

It's not a big deal to me but naturally I followed the error message and tried to load the module.

Code: Select all

# #
# sudo cpan URI::_foreign
bash: sudo: command not found
#  cpan URI::_foreign
bash: cpan: command not found
#
Might be because I don't have the devx or because of the upgrade breaking something.Intending to delete the savefile and start over fresh. May or may not make a difference.

For some much better news...... :) Other than the above-mentioned problem, everything else appears to be working well here. Except that infamous GetFlash...... still won't download ....

James C, how come you don't use md5sum? It's a native Linux CRC checker the same as the Windows one you used above.

Because I happened to do the download on my Windows 7 box...... so that's where the iso was. :)
I just download usually on whichever computer I happen to be using at the time, just happened to be on the 7 box.

I only mentioned in case you weren't aware of md5sum.
