Netbook screen not as bright in Lucid 528 as in Windows |
|
I've got Lucid 5.28 running on an Asus 1015pem netbook frugal install via sdhc card.
the hotkeys for adjusting screen brightness work (fn+f5 or f6)-- sort of . . .
The maximum brightness under puppy is about 1/2 as bright as under the default installed windows 7. its quite usable, but sometimes my aging eyes want more.
Any quick easy fixes?

Go to menu->setup->xorg video wizard->monitor gamma calibration
In each color entry adjust equally
Negative number - to lower brightness
Positive number - to increase brightness.
Apply
exit
After closing program:
Select Yes to save current configuration.

thanks for the replies
oddly, last night as I was tooling around on the computer, it froze up. I did a hard shutdown with the powerbutton. When I turned it back on, after it did the diskcheck, the screen brightness increased to normal levels!
weird weird weird . . .
I'll check out the suggestions later, but for now it seems to be working perfectly , so I won't mess with anything.
(this was after about a month of suffering through with a dim screen. I think the computer gremlins new I was coming after them . . .)
