Settings in Puppy 528 lost when cable modem rebooted Subject description: Internet connection, network printers, shortcut icons to specific folders, etc.
Help needed with locking in configuration! I am not much able on the console, but I love Puppy Linux. I am using 5.28.004 on several machines on two separate networks. I have to reconfigure the Internet connection, the network printers, and shortcut icons to specific folders, especially folders contained on USB memory sticks, when the cable modem has to be rebooted. Is there a GUI(s) which would set these constant though rebooting the cable modem? Could someone write such a program as a GUI and set it up as a Pet? I now observe that when I have to reinstall the printers because their IP addresses have change, that Puppy finds the printers by serial number as well as IP address. Could they be installed by serial number so they would remain constant even if the IP address changes? These abilities would greatly enhance my use of Puppy Linux.
