Can't get to alternate boot parameters (F2 doesn't work) |
|
I'm trying to upgrade:
http://puppylinuxfaq.org/first-steps-in-puppy-linux/9-installing-puppy-linux/23-upgrading-puppy-linux.html
I hammer the F2 key during the splash screen, but it does nothing so Puppy just loads as normal.
How can I get to this screen?
thanks

Which version of Puppy are you trying to upgrade to? I assume you're booting from a CD you burned. What did you use to burn it? Does F2 work when you boot the Puppy you already have installed? (Not the CD.)

I'm using 5.3.1, tried 2 CDs as I didn't check the md5sum with the first one. I used whatever CD burner comes with Ubuntu for one CD and Pburn for the second one.
I use the CD to boot puppy as I can't get into it otherwise, even though it's installed to the hard drive.

Ah, so the problem you are really trying to solve is that you've installed Puppy onto a hard disk but it won't boot unless you start with the CD?

No, the problem I'm trying to solve is a bunch of issues with this CD that may be happening because I didn't check the md5 thing.
I want to reinstall it on the hard drive partition. Now the partition I want isn't showing up in Puppy Universal Installer. Sorry for hijacking my own thread.
I don't really care if it needs the CD or not - I just want it to work.
