Subject description: Get and use xcompmgr

I find drop-shadows behind menus and windows add visual depth and are restful to the eyes.

There is a small Linux utility called xcompmgr which does this.

For Debian based Lucid, you can just download xcompmgr from

http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/i386/xcompmgr/download

[You have to select a mirror to get the .deb file -- just install it].

Edit your .xinitrc file to add the line:

xcompmgr -c -o 0.9 &

which will start xcompmgr when X is restarted.

[You can type "xcompmgr --help" to see all the options].

Restart the X server from the Shutdown menu.

Open a few windows and enjoy the subtle shadows.

Thats it!
