Hi puppymartin

Many thanks for this - it runs very well on my old laptop.

IBM A21m with 190mb ram, a P3 coppermine proc. and a swap partition.

Running frugal at the moment and am surprised at how fast it runs on such a ram challenged machine.

Again - many thanks and very best regards - Ray

Thanks, Yes, Puppies are fast :D

MijnPup beta2

#4 Post by alfa and omega »

Hello Martin!!

I'm running the system from a USB stick and the videos are not opening, only the audio. The player screen is all blue. This is for all players who were tested.
Dear martin, help me with some solution!
Thank you and congratulations on the job!

God bless you!!

OpenOffice 3.3 (dev)

#5 Post by P123 »

First of all I love this puplet, but it is still a beta so there are problems.

In the first beta OpenOffice 3.3 (dev) crashed after you reached the menu for the different applications & tried to create a new text document from the menu screen.

Now it in the second beta it crash after the registration screens.

Hi scsijon

which drive were you trying to install to?
sda1 or 2 or 3?

and is it a scsi drive? or ata or ide?

511 is sometimes a bit fussy about what type of drive you tell it to look for.

Maybe you could post your menu.lst

I had a similar problem and after changing the kernel line to read PMEDIA=idehd
it booted fine.

# Linux bootable partition config begins
title luci 231 2ram (on /dev/sda1) 2.6.33.2(i686)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /luci/vmlinuz PMEDIA=idehd pdev1=sda1 psubdir=luci acpi=force
initrd /luci/initrd.gz
# Linux bootable partition config ends

Just a guess - HTH - best regards - Ray

However, this works for me

# Linux bootable partition config begins
title 511 Mpup OO 2ram (on /dev/hda2) 2.6.33.2(i686)
root (hd0,1)
kernel /Mpup/vmlinuz PMEDIA=atahd pdev1=sda2 psubdir=Mpup acpi=force
initrd /Mpup/initrd.gz
# Linux bootable partition config ends

IBM A21m Thinkpad with 190nb ram, a P3 coppermine proc. and a swap parttition.

JWM Theme change

#9 Post by davec51 »

I'm trying to disable the "hide" feature of the tray. When I try to make any change to the JWM configurations, I get the message "new config corrupt. Keeping original."

Click on: /root/.jwmrc-tray
And in the editor change autohide="true" to autohide="false"

Sorry for the delay,

Ray, I hadn't even got that far, I was just booting from the cd, swap is already set as sda2 sda3 is where I put my "play systems" and it's an ide. sda1 is 51> 511 so that shouldn't be the problem. only had added pfix=ram so it didn't stuff up what was already there.

cd is ok (unless the listed hash is wrong)

who knows, will try again on the weekend when I have time.

first beta runs OK here

Just for your info, I have run the first issue of this with OOo from Oracle and Firefox beta and seen no instability problems. The machine is a generic Celeron D 2.8GHz 1.5 G RAM w/AOpen mobo and 64MB nv GeForce 4 MX440. Live session has been running about a week with OOo Writer open and Firefox, also have played avi files. Works for me.

Hi puppymartin,

thanks for mijnpup (sounds a little bit familiar to us in belgium  )

just could not get the fr_be locale working: using a text editor lets type 'q' for 'a' key.

Cheers

Thanks this one do work very good. Have only booted three times but usually Lupu520 would fail to boot on three times so you seems to ahve solved that one. So that is good. It played everything I gave it. Pictures worked in 1024x768 despite it reporting it had x600 I use two screens so it is a good puppy you made.

I tested it again and this a good one indeed. Just works which I can not say about Lupu on my Acer D250. So thanks again. Well done!
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though
