Is this set of icons just copied from out of windows 7?
I am thinking of the copyright infringement implications if this is so.
Also, as with some of the current Apple copyright court battles, we have to consider "Look and Feel".
I would not want to see Puppy targeted for using copyrighted material without permission as it could lead to problems.

arj_pup, it would be nice if you gave a URL where you found the icons. So no one would worry. :)

You can attach it to a Personal Messsage to Flash.
Just click on his name and select PM for personal message.

When I asked, I was not trying to create problems.
But by the same train of thought, I do not want to see icons that might come from a microsoft operating system offered as that could spell trouble.
So when you figure out where you got them, just let Flash know.

this is the source

After reading the page you linked to, it looks like the package is released under GPL, but that the graphics, aka icons are proprietary microsoft icons.
So I would say that it is a bit iffy as to being fully open source.
And I do not know if you had noticed, but there is a disclaimer that says "Use at your own risk".
Also, there was something about the package checking the PC it was installed on.
I would not think a theme package would have to do that.
So to me those Windows 7-like icons are in fact proprietary windows icons.

i did read the license agreement properly and i do understand your concern
well i am adding some pretext to my original post i guess that would be it.

Is this the new way of puppy linux?

Regarding "Look is everything" - shall puppy linux look like windows and/or apple computers?

What is about the copyright?

I am sure MS would not be happy!

Don't you think, acting like this (publishing copyrighted stuff, owned by others than you) is a bit criminal?

Aren't you afraid to end with criminal prosecution?

What about the Owner of the Forum? Does he support acting like this?

NOTE:

I do dissociate from all users/persons who commit such acts!

Oh, i forgot. As a Puppy Derivative Developer i do not have the right to complain...

Neither if got no help nor if get offered illegal stuff!
