Gourmet recipe manager is not yet available as pet or sfs but since lucid puppy can install ubuntu .deb files I decided to give it a go
I went to this page
http://linuxappfinder.com/package/gourmet
then downloaded this version
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/u ... u2_all.deb
installed it, then tried to start it but got the long error msg in the attached jpg
I have python installed. What should I do next?

It looks to me like you don't have the Image module installed. Python has various extra modules that provide functionality beyond what the raw language offers, and some Python programs have them as dependencies. It's basically the same situation as with normal compiled programs that depend on having various libraries installed. So what you'll need to do is install the Image Python module. Not sure where you get that from; hopefully it shows up in the package manager. Otherwise, google is your friend.
