Slacko 5.3.3-RC2 (5.3.2.4[0])
Fresh manual frugal install of 5.3.2.3 on an old P4 test box. Sound, display and internet all working on initial boot.
But, MtPaint screenshot is non-functional and no error messages when run from terminal. Otherwise, looking good so far.

Billtoo must be luckier than me, 2 installs and 2 non-working screenshots.....
Anyway, installed Mesa and.......
# glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
378 frames in 5.0 seconds = 75.548 FPS
376 frames in 5.0 seconds = 75.143 FPS

376 frames in 5.0 seconds = 75.143 FPS
376 frames in 5.0 seconds = 75.144 FPS
Lots of those error messages though...

Thanks for the tip. Still supposed to work when launched from the menu though.

No problem here with mtpaint. Works from menu and Print Screen button.
Any output running mtpaintsnapshot.sh?
I changed mtpaint because mikeslr had a jpeg bug, with it and gimp. I never came across the bug but thought maybe others had and not reported, could be HW specific.. mikeslr? (pm)
EDIT: ok you guys, go to the first run, aka "Personalize Settings" in the Setup>System menu and turn off UTF-8, I bet it's borking the US locale which is installed by default to get around a different bug. The "C" locale errors will disappear and probably mtpaintsnapshot.sh will work.

No error message when ran from the terminal.01micko wrote:No problem here with mtpaint. Works from menu and Print Screen button.

Dialog box appeared to set delay and when "OK" was clicked.... nothing. Tried different delay settings... no difference.Occured on both the P4 and Athlon XP installs.
Yup, that fixed it, report-video-glx and mtpaint screenshot are error-free.01micko wrote: EDIT: ok you guys, go to the first run, aka "Personalize Settings" in the Setup>System menu and turn off UTF-8, I bet it's borking the US locale which is installed by default to get around a different bug. Never ever had this problem before....
Attempted to do my usual pristine, manual, frugal install of 5.3.2.3...on my ntfs formatted harddisk in my HP550 laptop
Downloaded the ISO, opened it successfully, selected the 3 files, copied them to a standard directory that has booted many many times before using grub4dos standard menu.lst....
Rebooted and got 3 * red "pausing" and then a failed to find the 5.3.2.3.sfs file....
I'll try another download of the ISO....
[edit] 2nd download - same result - won't boot... [/edit]
Cheers

Testing the latest RC version. The 5323 fails to boot.
Can not find the main .sfs I go test the older one again
5321? and see if that one still boots.
Yes 5321 still boots using same computer same code
for booting.

I also tested using rootnoverify (hd0,1) could still not find the .sfs
But the old one boots using it now. What could that be causing
this failure?

Same problem that I have. Something or somebody has changed the .sfs?
slacko-5.3.2.3-SCSI.iso 113M, RC status
but lupu reports that it has only 108MB or 112 ... see my picture
and not 113 MB

Hi Noobynooby wrote:Same problem that I have. Something or somebody has changed the .sfs?
Sounds like the shared culprit between us is the ntfs harddisk....
Wonder which woof mick has used? Barry has been altering the boot files I think for his internationalisation project - could this have affected ntfs support??? Just clutching at straws.
Or it could be something to do with the new compression type being used in the k3 kernels - tz instead of gz? That might also explain the different size showing in lupu which doesn't have tz???? Again talking from little knowledge here lol.
Cheers
