Hi, last saviour.
Thank you very much for your next feature of TiMidity. I'd just found that its volume slowly responses to adjustment, ~5 seconds.
Yes, I do have the same effect here. Don't know why and don't know how to fix. I'll take it as is.
I'm glad that next LP will not have the notorious save function. Remaster should be the major feature of Puppy that attracts a lot of users.
Yes, I do always remaster and I use save files only for specific use - less use, actually 1.

At home I don't use a save file to 100% and so it looks logically to me to disable this by default (as oui suggested). But the user can activate it just by clicking a check box in the shutdown-gui. German users do use it already (LazY Puppy Build 005).
And it will be a good idea to have the automatic update for LP, but there should be option for those who don't want any update and don't want to see that pop up too.
Those who don't want to install any update will not keep their system up to date - which means: they will not get the bug fixes. The GUI should have a check box to deactivate automatically search for updates - doesn't it?

Then maybe you did not get all updates?

However 005-EN will have this option.
Pmusic has some bug. After boosting LP if I click Media Player--Pmusic 2.6.0 CD player/ripper. Then Pmusic 2.6 audio player won't load.
I don't like the pmusic but did try to have already the updated version in LazY Puppy - unfortunately each new version of pmusic comes with its new problems. I've removed pmusic from my system and will do so on a next release in the web versions (but not yet 005-EN).
As I can see in every Lupu puplet, the Nathan wallpaper will always freeze at some step, especially by directly double click the file in the menu. Perhaps it shares the same bug with Nathan wallpaper!
I'm currently running VSP-THD Puppy so, can't test this - but I know Nathan's Wallpaper Setter (the GUI) has also its problems, changing from version to version.

LP2_Ardour-2.8.12.sfs can't be loaded from Menu, but can be loaded from right click.
You mean, you've made a RunScript from Ardour SFS and used option to add menu entry to the system and it does not work from menu then?
The ffconverter doesn't work with error message (Your FFmpeg does not support the codec).
Which codec?
I find LP_Wine is very big comparing to other Wines but I can't see any differnce. Please tell me some differences. It's a pity that I can't load directx from the Wine trick. And it can't be unloaded.
The LP2_Wine.sfs is different to any other wine .pet or .sfs on the forum, because it has its Gecko stuff installed!

If it doesn't unload, remove /root/.wine after trying to unload and unload again. Works here mostly (sometimes its useful to restart X to unload an sfs completely).
Loading Avogadro from RC gave error "This system does not support OpenGL". And there's no Menu for it.
OpenGL means you'll need to load the LP2_XorgHigh.sfs. There should be a menu entry for it, which will donwload it automatically. After download and loading it should give a message about the need to restart X. :)

Its menu entry should be in menu Science.

The XorgHigh is also needed for Stellarium, which should be in the same menu category.

Lieber Herr RSH;
Thank for every answer.
Sorry to know that you divorced. Anyway you will have more time for us.

=== You mean, you've made a RunScript from Ardour SFS and used option to add menu entry to the system and it does not work from menu then?
No, I do not know how to run script.
From Jack Audio Recording Studio, I click Ardour-2.8.6 Digital Audiostudio but it can't find Ardour-2.8.12.sfs in Lazy folder. So I have to load from RC to install which is OK.

===Which codec?
Many codecs such as;
libmp3lame
pcm_s16le
wmav2 wmv2
libvorbis

If you like graphic program please consider making SFS file for this fractal program, it is better than Apophysis;
https://launchpad.net/fr0st/+download
And here is my little gallery.

I have many hundreds of fractal art, but still looking for good free hosting.
Talk to you again after I test LazY Puppy 2.0.2 Build 0.0.5 EN.

Best regards

How could I do that without a 2fs file? More importantly, how could I transition to Lazypup without losing all of the apps and their configurations that are currently saved in my 2fs file?

Hi otropogo;
You are a super Linux tester. Given your appetite for a variety Linux. I would like to recommend this Linux for you interest;
http://www.slax.org/en/download.php
You don't have to worry about sfs. file or saving configuration.
It's much better than Knoppix6.04. And please tell me if it will be better than Knoppix7.0.
I believe it will be in the top10 in Distrowatch.com within this year.
If you want to boot from USB this excellent program will do it for you;

I download the iso, the md5sum didn't match but after doing a frugal
install everything seems to be working fine.
It looks very complete to say the least, it's going to take some time
to check everything out :)

Hi.

Yes, it's true and I'm sorry for that. MD5-Sum is from the DE-Version.

Here is the EN-Version of MD5-Sum: 9ebc448d75faa729c4c193441192da73

I tried your pets2sfs utility with Midnight Commander pets that I made
in 3 headed dog, it's working fine I think.
I had to add a gz to each filename to upload them to the forum so they need to be renamed again minus the gz.

Yes, clicking the menu entry for Ardour 286 doesn't find the Ardour 2812, because it is for Ardour 286. :wink:

To make a RunScript from an sfs is totally easy to do. Just right-click the sfs and select the offered action (Create RunScript or similar).

There are a lot of right-click options available for several file types and directories - try it. 8)

I have to check this later. Currently running my private version of LazY Puppy and everything seems to be fine. :o

Yes, I do like graphic programs and have made sfs files for Fyre and Xaos already. Unfortunately I'm not familiar to python, which is needed/used for the frOst application. But the Windows installer version seems to work in LazY Puppy. I have downloaded, installed and created a first test fractal image (attached below). I've already seen your fractal image thread and do visit from time to time - some great pictures. I would like to see them to download in BIG sizes somewhere. :)

Take the time it needs and have fun with LazY Puppy. I hope I can do this in the near future as well, because until today I did never really come to a point where I could only use the LazY Puppy as a user. :lol:

Thanks for this. I will edit the .desktop file for German users and upload it to the LazY Puppy Repo.

Hi.

I've overseen to replace the German help.msg files with the English versions. If one installs the LazY Puppy as single OS onto an USB Flash Drive, the English help.msg files might be helpful.

I'm sorry for that. Files attached.

---

I have just copied the installation directory of frOst win-installer (after installing frOst) into my PortableApps directory. After rebooting LazY Puppy and loading the LP_2 Wine.sfs I could execute frOst and use it ---> look at the new created image. :)

I like the idea that you are making a complete list of sfs available on the front page of this thread.

LP2_Wine.sfs seems to be missing from the list though!

Yes, at first view, LP2_Wine.sfs seems to be missing. At a second view, not!
Title of SFS List wrote:Complete List (251 files) of available single sfs files to download:
LazY Puppy has two sorts of SFS Files

1.) The LazY Puppy SIngle SFS Files
2.) The LazY Puppy SFS Suites

The LazY Puppy SFS Suites are the SFS Files from original LazY Puppy 528-4 (the first one). These SFS Files are sorted in Categories and including several applications from the category - like Audio, Video, Office etc.

The LazY Puppy Single SFS Files mostly including single applications - like the Rosegarden or Audacity SFS etc. These SFS Files are from LazY Puppy 2.0.0 and above, when SFS P.L.U.S. and its RunScripts are invented and created.

I will update and add the SFS Suites List to the post.

Thanks RSH. You must take into account I don't fully know the ins and outs of Lazy Puppy yet!

I thought it might be interesting to download the recent update. I want the 005 EN iso.

Unfortunately Mediafire is extremely slow and only 003 EN is on smokey01. Any chance of getting the 005 EN iso on smokey01 instead of the 003?

Hi.

I don't know what's the reason for this, but if I try to upload to smokey01.com it takes about 90 Minutes (+-50KB/Sec) and it mostly fails after 80 to 90 % of the file is uploaded. Also several times the file has wrong permissions after upload to smokey01, so I have to remove and upload again.

Each day, when I try to upload files to smokey01.com result is a cost of 5,-€ per day - no matter if I'm trying one hour or ten hours or 24 hours.

Small files are always Ok to upload - in speed and in result.

Upload to mediafire takes mostly around 40 Minutes, it checks the file after upload and I've had never a file with wrong permissions when uploading to mediafire. Also: I can use the cheaper Card, which has a cost of 1,-€ per day.

This is the most expensive Puppy ever!

I have tried to upload one hour ago and it fails after 108 MB has been uploaded. Did start a new upload now ---> 44 KB/Sec!!!

I'm sure it will fail again or will set wrong permissions to the file if successfully finished.

Someday's I'm dreaming of erasing the whole Data on the PCs Hard Drives and buying an old 16-Track Recording Machine!

Hi.

Good news.

After around 75/80 Minutes LazY Puppy 2.0.2-005 has been successfully uploaded to smokey01.com (at 44KB/sec!).

I hope this will download faster than upload.

The download was about 20mins for me. It was not going as fast as my connection allows but good enough. The md5 checked out so the download was OK.

Thanks for perservering with getting it uploaded, RSH.

If there are future builds to upload it may be worth thinking of splitting the iso up into chunks of a size that smokey can cope with and we can download it as a zip or rar library that reconstiitues the single file on extraction. I don't know how to split a file like this but have seen it done with other big files offered for download. It would save you some € too.

Now to have a look at this pup ...

Hi.

After some strange differences in the German forum between mainly my person and a few German forum members, I have made a decision that unfortunately will involve any other Users of LazY Puppy - even new Users, if there would have been some.

I don't want to work for such guys even if they would pay me 50,- Euro per hour, and so, I don't want to work for them unpaid and unappreciated.

That's why I have decide to remove all LazY Puppy files from my account at smokey01.com. I'm sorry for all who will miss now LazY Puppy - your credits are going to those German users.

I will not come back!

Btw.: I'm logged in as puppytutorial, which is a free login-user-option in the German forum, because I have changed my forums password in a non reproducible way, so I can't log in as RSH anymore.

Bye,

RSH

P.S.

No, I will not remove my applications, attached to the forum ! ! ! They are all free to grab, modify and to re-publish, if you like to do so.

I'm really very sorry to have read all of this RSH... I very truly am! :cry: I have really come to enjoy your postings around here on the forum, your very unique insight into solutions and problems that many had with various puplets and programmes - and I always appreciated your help, wisdom, and true dedication to the Puppy Community at large.

Yes, the Community will be suffering a very great loss with your departure.

Are you sure that this is a situation that cannot be resolved by perhaps sitting back from the computer ( a metaphor for "all things pertaining to Puppy" ) for a week or two, if not more in order for a "cooling off period" to ensue? Sometimes this permits the mind to clear and allows us to realise that in the larger scheme of things such problems are truly minor when compared to the true goodness of Puppy globally and how much any and all efforts towards that means/end are appreciated?

I have found this to be true in my case every time no matter how severe I believed the transgression to be at the moment. And I say this because I truly hate to see a valued member such as yourself who contributed so much to be lost. :cry: This was the German forum? Then why make the majority of we who speak French & English and use Puppy suffer? - or the future generations who would find such work valuable and now won't have a clue because it will over time fall by the wayside?

I guess I've spoken my two pieces of wampum. In case what I have said doesn't change your mind RSH then it has been a pleasure knowing you, gaining further insight into Puppy from reading your threads, and enjoying using your programmes, etc. I wish you much luck in the future my fellow Puppian friend!

Cheers/Mazzel/Amicalement,

I don't know/understand what happened, but I know that your scripts are appreciated by many users.
I hope that your absence will only be temporary.
