Hi.

I have renamed/translated all entries in /root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/OpenWith in my private version of LazY Puppy. To make it a bit easier and more comfortable i did wrote a program for this kind of work.

Image

You can find the .pet and the .sfs here.

Hi.

I have hurt my fingers, so i could not play the drums yesterday. I did use the free time to make an update of the LazY Puppy RunScript-Builder (SFS-AutoScript). It is now possible to create automatically RunScripts from SFS-Files in a directory by only one single right-click on the directory - the sfs files have to be already converted to LazY Puppy. I have created RunScripts from 202 SFS-Files in one directory.

Install the .pet, do a right-click on the directory containing the sfs files and choose LP2-SFS-AutoScript-(Batch). Then drink some coffee.

It saves now its preferences in a file so the batch function runs using the same preferences for all sfs files.

To set the preferences in front of running the batch function, do a right-click on a sfs file, set your preferences and close the gui. Preferences are always saved.

It has a new parameter to let an sfs only load and run at pupmode 5 (no save file - i need and use this for GIMP 2.7.3)

You can find the .pet here

Note:

LP2-SFS-AutoScript-Update-01a.pet has been updated. I have had overseen that ImageMagick is still built in. So there is no need to load the sfs and show messages on that action. Sorry.

How did you install? Frugal or full install?

Full install is not recommended!

I do use only frugal installation on usb stick. Never had any problem shutting down. LazY Puppy 2.0.2 (build 0.0.1) has had such issues on a few users, but this has been fixed in build 0.0.2.

Seems like you have installed some shutdown application and therefor destroyed the LazY Puppy shutdown functions.

Only solution i see: new save file.

By the way: i do not use a save file to 100% at home computer.

DO NOT INSTALL ANY SHUTDOWN-SOFTWARE!

HI Pelo.

I have noticed you had posted a few posts about puppies not shutting down and named it New Bug in Puppy. Did you install the shutdown application in each of these puppies?

Might be Ok since puppies usually do not have a shutdown gui. But LazY Puppy has got one and it's especially configured to let you unload loaded sfs before shutting down the computer. Either manually selected or automatically all sfs files.

Also its gui changes options as a matter on the fact if you are using a save file or if not using a save file. So you will have a menu if you are using a save file and have made frugal install on usb. Then you can select from the menu, if you want to shutdown/restart either saving session to save file or not to save.

It's well configured and thought out, so there is no need to install/use any other shutdown gui - except: you want to crash the LazY Puppy. :lol:

Image shows gui without using a save file.

Hi.

Introducing LazY Puppy Design Switcher 0.3!

Using Design Switcher you can switch Wallpaper, Icontheme, Openbox Theme, GTK Theme, Tint2 Theme and System Sounds from 1 gui. Just select the wanted Design Theme from a list and click Apply ---> that's it. 8)

Image

You can create different System Designs using the Design Maker 0.3. Design Maker offers several lists of files, like: Wallpapers, Icon Themes, Openbox & GTK Themes, Tint2 Themes and System Sounds. Just select what's needed and click Apply to create a new Design.

Image

A "Design" is just a text file, containing some Data which is read out by Design Switcher to set all themes and Images etc.

Currently a Design Theme contains the following Data:

Code: Select all

#-----------------------------------------------------------
# PhaseBlue - Design for ---> LazY Puppy Design Switcher
#-----------------------------------------------------------

GTKDesign="Gtk_PhaseBlue"

OBDesign="OB_PhaseBlue"

Tint2Design="PhaseBlue.tint2rc"

SoundDesign="Studio-1337"

IconDesign="Faenza"

WPDesign="/usr/share/backgrounds/default.jpg"

#-----------------------------------------------------------
# PhaseBlue - Design for ---> LazY Puppy Design Switcher
#-----------------------------------------------------------
The following Images showing several LazY Puppy Design Themes ---> switched by just one mouse click. 8)

LazY Puppy Phase Blue
Image

LazY Puppy Phase Black
Image

LazY Puppy Phase Colored
Image

LazY Puppy Phase CeePup3
Image

NO! The PET doesn't contain any Wallpapers, Icons or else Design Data ---> must be configured by users.

---

This one is made especially for LazY Puppy but it should work in other puppies as well. I would like to make this one working on JWM, IceWM and Fluxbox as well...

...just need to know, how to change themes of JWM, IceWM & Fluxbox by script. :?:

Any suggesitions? ? ?

Hi.

It has been a long time ago since I had used the puppy package manager. Also i did search only the lucid repo. A few days ago i used the package manager again and did search the ubuntu repos this time. It has offered a lot of "never seen by me before" applications and after some time and some search i found Lives-1.3.2, a program for video editing.

Image

After downloading all files I found 26 .deb files in /root directory. This reminds me on the Jack-0.3.4-0ubuntu4_i386.pet, which I did create from 51 oder 52 .deb files, long ago (I think it was in Dec.2011) - a lot of monotonous work. :roll:

Image

LazY Puppy fortunately offers an option to unpack .deb files with right-click action. Would be a lot of clicks and keyboard-hits to make a sfs out of these files.

So, as i saw these files my happiness of finding the Lives-1.3.2 has been flying away immediately. I did choose to try to make a sfs from these files using pets2sfsgui ---> but did not work with .deb files. :cry:

Okay. We are in Linux. Puppy Linux. Open Source!

Instead of making a sfs of these files manually I did choose to take the needed time to make the sfs for another job: ---> Updating the pets2sfsgui program to be able to make sfs also from .deb files and from mixes of .pet and .deb files too.

Well, here it is: PaDS-1.0.0 - convert and merge (P)ET (a)nd (D)EB to (S)FS ! <---> attached at the end of this post. It has locals for de and en.

Hi.

At the end of this post you'll find an update to the LazY Puppy RunScript Builder. It makes much faster RunScripts. Programms will start nearly fast as they were installed - depends on the size of the sfs file.

Existing RunScripts must be created again to take effect.

I have made a reply to this in the German forum.

At the End of this Post you'll find a simplified version of the bootflash script to install the LazY Puppy completely and easily from one usb stick onto another one.

HI.

At the End of this Post you'll find an update to the LazY Puppy Remaster Suite.

It is now possible to make a remaster without the need to mount a iso first or insert a cd into the cd drive. The new Remaster is made from the running system.

If you do mount the LazY Puppy boot directory, then the whole iso will be rebuild. If the LazY Puppy boot directory is not mounted, it ends with a message about no bootloader was found. Then you'll get only the new created StArtLPx2_202. sfs file.

I think, that's now a pretty cool remaster function and hope you'll find it useful.

RSH

Edit:

Posted from the first version i have build using this new remaster function.

Hi RSH, is this remaster tool only for Lazy? or could it work on some other puppies too?

Hi greengeek.

Yes, unfortunately this is not usable in other puppies. Too many specific modifications made and also, as far as i know, the remaster scripts are different in different puppies.

But maybe a quick hack can add this to your remaster script. I would like to see, if that works.

1. Install the attached .pet. This contains the needed files to be able to tell the remaster script from where to take the files ---> no matter if booted from /mnt/home or /mnt/sda1 or /mnt/sdd3/YourPuppy or what ever you can imagine - ääähhhhh puppy can boot

2 Open your remaster script and put the followong code at the very beginning.

Code: Select all

# get LazY Puppy Bootdirectory
exec /usr/sbin/ceelab/tools/get_boot_dir
sleep .1
. /usr/sbin/ceelab/lp2_sys_data/LP2_BootDir
3. Search for some code like:

Code: Select all

#VIRTUALCD=$(mount -t iso9660|grep '^/dev/loop' | sed -e 's/on[ ].*+//' -e 's/[ ]type[ ]iso9660[ ].*$//')
#MSG="$m_14"
#choice_cdd
#
#CDPATTERN="/dev/$BURNERDRV "
#CDMNTPT="`mount | grep "$CDPATTERN" | tr -s " " | cut -f 3 -d " "`"
#if [ "$CDMNTPT" != "" ];then
#	if [ ! -f $CDMNTPT/initrd.gz ];then
# # 091212 weird bug, no processes but when run this, x restarts...
#		xFUSER="`fuser -m /dev/$BURNERDRV 2>/dev/null`" #do this first, seems to fix it.
#		[ "$xFUSER" != "" ] && fuser -k -m /dev/$BURNERDRV
#		sync
#		umount /dev/$BURNERDRV 2> /dev/null
#		if [ $? -ne 0 ];then
#			Xdialog --wrap --center  --title "$m_02" --msgbox "$m_15" 0 0
#			go_exit
#		fi
#		CDMNTPT=""
#	fi
#fi
#
#if [ "$CDMNTPT" = "" ];then
#	eval m_16="$m_16"
#	while [ 1 ];do
#		Xdialog --wrap --center  --title "$m_01" --msgbox "$m_16" 0 0
#		[ $? -eq 0  ] || go_exit	# 22jun09
#		# now mount it...
#		CDMNTPT="/mnt/$BURNERDRV"
#		mkdir -p /mnt/$BURNERDRV
#		mount -t iso9660 /dev/$BURNERDRV /mnt/$BURNERDRV
#		[ $? -eq 0 ] && break
#	done
#fi
and comment it out ---> already done in the above code

In LazY Puppy Remaster Skript it is at line 347 ---> in your script it's surely another line number :)

Search for some code like:

Code: Select all

for F in vmlinuz initrd.gz ${ZDRVSFS} grldr menu.lst '*.xpm' isolinux.bin isolinux.cfg '*.msg' '*.16' '*.HTM*' '*.ICO' '*.INF'
do
	cp $CDMNTPT/$F $WKGMNTPT/$rebuilddir/ 2> /dev/null
	sync
done
Change code:

Code: Select all

cp $CDMNTPT/$F $WKGMNTPT/$rebuilddir/ 2> /dev/null
to

Code: Select all

cp $LP2BDL/$F $WKGMNTPT/$rebuilddir/ 2> /dev/null
Please let me know the results. Could you test this in some other puppies, please.

Thanks

P.S.

The above shown code might be different to the code inside your script. As i wrote: i have made lots of specific modifications - can not remember each detail. :lol:
