32 bit operating systems, including Puppy, will work perfectly well on a 64 bit machine. My main computer runs Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit/ XP 32 bit/ and every 32 bit Puppy works fine. A default 32 bit kernel only accesses about 3-3.5 gb of ram so if someone has a lot of ram 64 bit will access it all.
However,a 64 bit os will not boot in a 32 bit computer.
Hope that helps.

Yes, with google I also found out that linux 32-bit is working on 64-bit PCs. Don't know why that happened on my PC. I tried out several linux-distries, and so far I couldn't boot them on the 64-PC, only on my notebook.

dancer-could you give more info on how the booting fails? Are there any error messages or logs available?

You could also try the Lazy exe installer - this uses the "Lin'n Win' Method and leaves the windows bootloader intact. If that works I would still create a dedicated Linux partiton for your puppy installs.

Maybe you can not boot into X (graphics display) because of the graphics adapter. Can you type "xorgwizard" into console?

If you can do so, after hit "enter" you will get a menu list to select size and color depth of monitor.

Please, post last messages on boot up.

It seem to be difficult or impossible to write into console, because it crashed to black screen. No chance to intervene.
I have to boot with console and will try that later.

At the moment I have to install new because the booting crashed after I made usbflash installation that disturbed the system files. I'm not really successful at the moment, maybe because of personal causes...

Did you boot from CD or from USB with save file?

If you are trying to boot from USB with using save file that has been created on another computer - this will fail.

Would you please post the last boot messages shown on screen?

Edit: you can also post here:

Maybe it is better for the two german Rainer's to do all this in german language?

You can select skins in aqualung. Just rightclick on GUI (free space) and select menu entry "Skin chooser".

On 2012-01-15 i had moved all files of LazY Puppy 5.2.8-4 to smokey01.com. I will now left all files stored at mediafire. They are still there but i do not take care of them anymore. So, if you can't download any or some of the .sfs files anymore, do install the attached .pet.

The New LazY Puppy 5.2.8-4 QuickInstall contains all links set to smokey01.com.

<bookmark title="/usr/X11R7/bin">/usr/X11R7/bin</bookmark>

Thank you. This is a nice feature. If i just could have had this one earlier...

I did set a lot of symbolic links in /root/puppy-reference to many of these directories in one of the earlier remasters.

Ok, added (just like the wonderful hash.xpm) to the update package (coming soon, real hot).

Dear RSH,

I don't know how I completely missed your work on Lazy Puppy, since I have always wanted a puppy containing Lazarus! So, great idea and I see you put lot of effort. Thanks for that I and I'm just downloading your puppy and will try it.

In mean-time, I have prepared a huge .pet (788MB) of CodeTyphon distribution of Lazarus and FrePascal. See http://www.pilotlogic.com/sitejoom/index.php/codetyphon
PET is here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/U5ryH2fy/Co ... n-240.html
Note that it is huge, 788 MB, since it is already precompiled.

CodeTyphon distribution contains a lot more components than regular Lazarus distribution.

I suppose it will work even without missing libraries, because it is already compiled, but here are libraries, just in case:
http://www.4shared.com/file/rxSOsfAe/Co ... -Libs.html

Could you prepare a SFS for you Lazy Puppy?

Mhwaveedit will open .wav .mp3 .ogg .oga and .flac audio files,

so a right click option 'Edit with mhwaveedit' will work.

:D Thank you very much, this sounds nice to me. :D

After a long time and much working on this one, at least panoss found a way, to get lazarus running and working. He didn't post for a longer time, so i think the whole thing works well, because he did some work on lazpaint at that time and wanted to do this using lazarus and puppy.

Several users did download the first sfs build and also some users did download the actual LazY528-LZ09300-FPC242.sfs. Never heard anything from anyone - so it seems to me: they are all happy using lazarus and puppy... :D

By the way: there is a real nice feature in LazY Puppy, if you are using Lazarus. Complete Documentation (pdf) goes directly into the guides menu. 8)

And so it is with bacon and gambas! 8)

Yes, i will try it. Now that you have uploaded the files to mediafire i will donwload them the next days and spend some work on it. But first i have to finish an actual work to make a wonderful addition to LazY Puppy.

Note: It will show the English Menu if the English Keyboard Layout is set.

Please do not try to recompile lazarus - it will fail. The reason is: it is already recompiled (that fixed some small issues) and after recompiling the rtl directory of the fpc sources has been replaced with the rtl directory of fpc 2.4.4 (that fixed the main problem). So you are running lazarus-0.9.30, fpc-2.4.2 and using fpc-rtl-2.4.4. It's a bit funny, but after all it seems to work properly (as i noted in my previous post).

 Announcements

2012-04-28 - 20:30 GMT+1

I plan to upload all files of the new LazY Puppy 2.0.1 within the next week.

I do also plan to remove the files of LazY Puppy 1 (5.2.8-4) because i will not longer use and maintain this version.

After release of LazY Puppy 2.0.1 i do plan a break of active develpoment for several weeks (except needed bug fixing). I do feel the need to get back from where i started the LazY Puppy - as a puppy user, now LazY Puppy User. That's why i did intend to make the LazY Puppy - just to use it. For Music, Graphics and sometimes Programming.

LazY Puppy 2.0.1 will be (and is already now) that much comfortable to use i couldn't imagine as i did start. So currently and actually i am really really happy, to have this OS for my own use and intentions (how ever they would look in the near future).

But i surely don't quit!
