How to install VMware workstation 8 in Dpup Exprimo 5.X.9?

#1 Post by theblackpig »

HI,
I'm running Dpup Exprimo 5.X.9.
Went to install VMware - half way through the install I get message
"No rc*.d style init script directories were given to the installer.
You must manually add the necessary links to ensure that the
vmware service at /etc/init.d/vmware is automatically started and stopped on startup and shutdown."
What do I do and how please ?

In my experience, VirtualBox is, in the last versions, easier to install and to handle than VMware. VirtualBox is also GPL 2.

It might be but as far as I'm aware it can't use virtual machines made by VMware :(

Oh, it can use them, just not always very well. Many work without any fuss, but others- like pretty much every ReactOS VMware image I've ever tried out- are a nightmare in VBox.

Good luck!
