Unfortunately stuff that isn't open source is very difficult to get to work with Saluki. Is air working on any puppy that you know of?Dromeno wrote:Jemimah, lots of thanks for ZIM, it has become a piece of software which I use daily so i am very glad it is included in Saluki!
something else:
Prezidesktop http://prezi.com/ is a paid-for app, so I can not include a link to it (you can use a free version online), but it is the best presentation making tool I have seen so far.
But it depends on adobe air to work. I love Is it possible to add something to Saluki so that apps with .air extension can be installed? Or is it like with python dependent apps, which all seem to need their own Saluki-finetuned .pet?

hi jemimah
some air apps work on puppy, but need a work-a-round to run, as air itself doesn't install.... there's an example an air app working here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=74468 which you can look at.....
and another air app http://www.mediafire.com/file/a5ncypkkt ... oicing.pet
also the link to the solution, that r1tz gave, when i was trying to get mielophone.air working on puppy....http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=63483
some apps work with different versions of air...... unfortunately each app requires a complete air for itself, so packages are 20mb +

I agree about that. my idea is if jemimiah could just add teh current one where each new iso is posted post the link where the forum thread is posted from. How jhard is that. jemimiah posts teh announcment in the thred when shd puts up the iso. wny cant she copy the link and add it to the main page under the iso for eas of use. this is what i wpould prefer as you say we dont really need the old ones just teh current one.Geoffrey wrote:HiDeHo,HiDeHo wrote: hi jemimiah are you going to add these forum options to the first post in this forum or at lease the one for The latest iso. It might be better to start a new thread with these links if you feel that they need to be resurrected for discussion.
I don't think it would be a good idea to post questions in this thread in regard to them this late in the game.
I'm personally not interested in any of the older versions I prefer to be at the coalface where all the action is
Maybe even just bookmarking the links would suffice.
@jemimiah its not hard and would help out the saluki community. as you prefer to only have one thread. Its been sggested others think its a good idea. Appricated a

I would remove the link to the origional save file option. as long as the new save file comes up instead of the origional one. it would help.jemimah wrote: Is pupsaveconfig not coming up on shutdown for you? The old version is only available with the Legacy button or if you shutdown from the console. I was thinking of removing the Legacy button.
I understand that. its beyond my skill. I woudl also like to see a modern thunderbird pst. this is nessessary as claws mail does not play well with gmail, allot of people do use thunderbird mail already having a familiraty is what sakluki si all about.jemimah wrote: Chromium would need to be compiled on Saluki for it to work. Compiling it was way beyond my current skill level last time I tried it (I may have leveled up by now, perhaps I'll try it again at some point). AFAIK no one has ever successfully compiled it on any Puppy. Google does not make a "portable" Chrome version the way Firefox and Opera are compiled specially to work on a wide variety of distros.
HiDeHo is an ideas man. loves to come up with ideas that others think are good and can use

I am all for a website just for saluki. it will be useful if you are going top keep working on saluki and hjave it become a maintained puppy. with a great team of developers. to help you.jemimah wrote:The new website is ready - only waiting for me to finish setting it up. I tried zigbert's gtkdialog-splash update http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 564#626564
Works fine, give's the splash a softer look, not so harsh, definitely more pleasing to the eye.

and
here: http://www.smokey01.com/jemimah/saluki/isos/
I'm not sure if they will move in the future but jemimah is welcome to leave them on my site.

The config files are in /root/.config/xfce4. .config is a hidden directory so set Thunar to show hidden directories in order to be able to see it.HiDeHo wrote:Atm I have a query about the xfce panel settings.
I setup a 2nd panel in saluki at the top with my shortcuts and stuff i like.
what i would like to find is the config file for the setup so i can copy it and have it easily restored if i need to create a new save file etc.
this would be most helpful.

Here are a few QT image applications I've compiled for Saluki, you will need qt-4.8.0 installed for these to run.

/root/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-panel.xml. Or just grab the whole /root/.config/xfce4 directory and it will have all your xfce settings.HiDeHo wrote:Atm I have a query about the xfce panel settings.

I have solved the issue by creating a new forum for Saluki. Most future development will take place there. Create as many threads as you like.HiDeHo wrote:I agree about that. my idea is if jemimiah could just add teh current one where each new iso is posted post the link where the forum thread is posted from. Smokey01.com will remain the primary mirror but I think I've figured out how to automatically sync the repo at saluki-linux.com. This should only download the changed packages - not the whole repo every time.smokey01 wrote:HiDeHo, all of the Saluki ISO are here: http://www.smokey01.com/saluki/isos/

Code: Select all
wget -np -mN -nH --cut-dirs=2 http://smokey01.com/saluki/pet_packages-saluki/
It is possible to get ssh access at Hostgator, but you may need to open a ticket. Once you can login with ssh it's pretty easy to test commands like the one above. Plus you can do things you can't do with ftp, like create symlinks.
Once the syncing command is perfected, it should be possible to schedule it to run periodically with cron.

Hi Jemimah - JFYI
am running luki-022 on my old Acer 243LC and it really is running well.
So far, all seems very good. Will try on the Asus 701SD tomorrow.
The Saluki website looks very nice too.
Many thanks for all that you do - very best regards - Ray
