Thank you, 666philb. I didn't know that .debs can be installed directly into a Puppy distro. This is most helpful. majorfoo also mentioned that xorg_high.1.1 Lucid.pet is needed. Sky, you downloaded the source, which needs compiling to be installed... A while back I compiled Xscreensaver 5.12 but using the 5.07 gui... Let's try this again 1. Download following files xscreensaver_5.15-2_i386.deb xscreensaver-data_515.2_i386.deb xscreensaver-data-extra_5.15-2_i386.deb xscreensaver-gl_5.15.2_i386.deb xscreensaver-gl-extra_5.15.2_i386.deb 2. DO NOT OPEN ARCHIVE. 3. Using mouse, left click on first .deb file. It installs just like a regular pet file. Follow prompts to install. Then install the remaining four .deb files by left clicking on file 4. Using Package manager, download and install Xorg_high. You must restart X after the installation 5. Get the script from link I previously posted. I place this is root directory. First time you run the script, you may get some message on screen. I don't remember exactly what it says. Just click ok and you should not see the message again. Hope this helps Majorfoo |

@Sky, no... tar.gz simply means compressed, (like .zip in windoze) and can contain anything... If you see configure or make.. It is source code... In your package manager "Setup/Puppy/Puppy Package Manager" Do you have Ubuntu repos listed?? Search there.. Or.. The 5.12 pet I posted above works fine, and including GL savers, has 216 screensavers.. But the glslideshow function in xscreensavers has perl issues that I cant solve.. Not to mention needing functional GL graphics to work as well... Hence the Slideshow pet above... Hmm, they are all there for me.. 2 things.. 1 You must restart the PPM to update the repos... 2 You must enter xscreensaver, then choose a repo, then click "go" OK, 3 things.. The lucid repo has 5.10.. pupxscreensaver is 5.12..

Hummm? I may have found a slideshow screensaver that works... I just ran an old live CD called mi.pup 2.6-412 puplet mi.pup 2.6-412 puplet has a slideshow screensaver in that seems to be working well. The screensaver liner notes say this:
This may be the same Puppy Screensaver maybe built by MU and listed here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=295847#295847 I believe MU said he took BasicPuppyScreenSaver02 dotpup and repackaged as PuppyScreenSaver.pet. I took his PuppyScreenSaver.pet download and installed it in Lucid Puppy 528. The screensaver didn't activate. I'll look for missing files. What would be needed to make this work in Lucid Puppy 52x? Here is a screenshot of the control panel from the screensaver in mi.pup 2.6-412 puplet:
