no mic on asus netbook 1015pe

i checked alsamixer and here is what i see
card hda intel
chip realtek alc259

i loaded Linux Mint and it worked fine (but i need my Puppy)
i check alsamixer in mint and it reads

master,headphone, speaker,pcm,capture all up
frt mic, mic boost, and frt mic boost all down.
so i set same in puppy, but no go.

from this point i'm lost. thanks tom

telltom, I'm not sure what version of Puppy you are running but I use Dpup Exprimo 5x9 and it works out of the box.

I have the Asus 1015PEM.

i'm repllying using Dpup download you suggest. thanks and yes mic works fine. Bacon record works fine too. only problem is with guvcview, when i be try to record it shuts down. that may be because i'm running from a usb drive.
