ISpup-Q120 in Asus X42J notebook: no sound

A just-burned ISpup-Q120 live CD runs flawlessly in my Dell Inspiron laptop but its performance is somewhat short of perfect in my Asus X42J notebook. In particular, my sound card cannot be recognized no matter what I do and,as a result, I cannot play music or video clips. In addition, during shutdown the screen that prompts me to select where to save (or not to save) the current session fails to appear and as a result the shutdown process hangs and takes quite a while to complete probably waiting for unexercised options to timeout. Can anything be done to resolve these problems?
