I'm having the same shutdown problem with a full HD installation as I had with a frugal installation with a 4fs save file. Selecting "Shutdown>Power-off computer" performs a reboot. Otherwise, the full HD installation works great.

Applying fix at bigpup's suggested link above did not solve the problem.

Hey jim3630, That is very low memory usage either way, don't you think?

playdayz you think?
yeah jim3630, I bet that the 47MB and 57MB are the lowest of any of the other top ten linux distros.
playdayz, it is of LMDE and Squeeze 6.03 that I use. puppy on distrowatch using 3 week sample is #4 or 5 last time checked.

went back to dw had to check my memory and with 30day sample puppy is #8 which is pretty darn good.

I've been testing RC2 on the Pentium D machine, both with existing saves and from a fresh pfix=ram session. Unfortunately wireless internet performance with the Netgear WN111v2 is still very poor. The last few builds have, at least, recognised the dongle straight away and IIRC it retains the settings across boot.

Since that machine's only connection to the internet is via wireless, the mediocre speeds I'm getting make internet useage quite impractical for anything other than basic surfing and IRC. It's a shame really, as Slacko does seem to be a very good version for offline use, but at present it's looking like I will be sticking with Lupu 528 for day-to-day Puppy use on that machine.

I'll continue testing but I can't think of anything else to try, I've used Network Wizard, Frisbee and the other wireless utility in the menu but there isn't any difference in performance.
