Tanks Jim, but these updates are still outdated, the new version is 2.2.0.35,

I can find the download on the TOR website, but Im a newbie, and still havent discovered how to make .pet files that work

got the pm thought answer here so others may benefit. you don't have to make a pet out of tor to work. just down load the current

Tor Browser Bundle
Version 2.2.35-9 - Linux, BSD, and Unix

to root/my-applications/lib/
open it with xarchiver choose to extract it there
click on the dir tor-browser
inside is file "start tor browser", right click on it and select open as text
go to line 111-- if [ "`id -u`" -eq 0]; then
change the 0 to a 1 so it looks like
go to line 111 if [ "`id -u`" -eq 1]; then
select save then can drag the start tor browser to the desk top and you go to go.

Thanks Jim but I just want to remind everyone as I answered in my PM about Tor, even though you can put a newer version in, it will not have the same security settings and customizations I made to the older version and will not be as secure.
A new version of Puppy Crypt will be coming out but not for a few months as I have to get the base, programs, and finished OS actually shipped back and forth by parcel. I was planning on waiting till I get home but that's gonna be a while so I'll do my best to get a newer version out within the next three months.

that's good to know a new release is on the way.

my bad thought a downloaded newer Tor would have same level of security.

take it there is not a way to download newer Tor and the user make those
security settings and customizations?

it's a CSS thing: if you select "page style" to "no style" your IP is not divulged.

If we use live CD for banking - and if we store the passwords on dropbox with this utility online:

Do you foresee any problems if we store the banking passwords online with this tool?

I will finalize the CD and install the software with no passwords saved on the CD.

If this software seems problematic - then would there be any problem if I encrypt the passwords file with truecrypt and store the encrypted file online with dropbox (or skydrive etc.) And if someone accesses the file online by attacking the site or other means - will there be any risk?

I am trying to make live CD banking more convenient (I will carry a small 1.4 GB DVD and do not want to carry a usb stick.)

Of course if I have to, I will carry the stick too. But if above options are riskless - I will select the above online encyrpted options.

I have no personal experience with boxcryptor but as a general rule I would never personally store any passwords online, encrypted or not. Afraid I can't really give you much more insight then that. For myself since I rarely need to look up my passwords I have everything encrypted using FPM (everything is nicely organized that way) and then re-encrypted using Truecrypt and then saved on a separate partition of my thumbdrive.

Well understood. Your insight is valuable - because the main reason I use Linux is the security of financial matters. And this thread is one of the most relevant topics on this issue.
