Very nice - I've just learnt something - running 5x10.3smp right now -

Emachines E732 laptop, 2gig ram, i3-370M proc, 1gig swap partition
(or no swap when booting from SDcard)

They seem made for each other - best regards - Ray

My first (uploaded) test version of Dpup Exprimo 5.X.13.SMP has been uploaded.
Going to go to the bed now.
Kernel 3.1.10 SMP - hyperthreading - core 2 and up optimization. Non PAE.
It has my latest Mplayer2 compile from fresh svn. I did try to make it as compatible as I knew. Stu90 posted that it passed his used different video formats. It should also support usual audio formats. Gnome-mplayer uses it now.
It has all the stuff from 5.X.13 build otherwise, except kernel and vattery-acpitool. Kernel headers in devx sfs of course changed also. I will upload kernel sources sfs tomorrow after work.

Browser still 9.01, but I did update it to 10 and it seems to work with latest flash. More feedback needed before I upgrade it to the build.

For record...I do use aufs still with 3.X kernels.

James C. Thank you of feedback. I will check where it resides. It should not be problematic to compile and add single missing drivers.

Doing some comparing... in this 5.X.13 SMP k-3.1.10 /lib/modules/3.1.10-dpup/kernel/drivers/net/ contains 73 items while in the previous 5.X.10.3 k-3.10 /lib/modules/3.10/kernel/drivers/net/ contains 137 items.

Just for the heck of it I'll try 8139too out of Micko's k-3.1.10 build.

Hmm....it seems I really have missed whole section of net drivers. Well...that means new compile surely.

This Realtek is one of the most common network cards, I knew something was up pretty quick when I couldn't connect.
Just for informational purposes, the same directory in Micko's build of k-3.1.10 has 135 items. Don't rush yourself, just thought you'd want to know.

Yeah..things happen. I tried to go through carefully network section...but it seem I have missed something really fundamental. Well...the kernel is sane...I just need to enable the whole missed sections. I believe reason is that that some sections were under different group...so the ./config I used as template didnt take them in and I missed to tick whole section of drivers.
It has happened before.
But that`s the testing for....

Thanks James C. Now I know what I will do this evening, lol....

Kernel-3.1.10 now recompiled. I had somehow forgotten to tick whole 10/100 Mb network drivers section. Small tick...big consequences...lol. Now all those (big whole bunch) has been included.
Otherwise the announcement is same.

pemasu,

Just an update on my question on jre. I found the pet over at smokey and installed it. Works like a charm.

My brain was a little fried earlier when I asked about using the sfs from Fadog. I've been going back and forth between 4 puppies on two machines  and got stuff momentarily turned around.

Again, great job on Exprimo. starting to learn my way around it. 8)

pemasu, just having a play with http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/DpupSque ... mo5X13SMP/ and it looks good so far. It set the correct resolution of my monitor at 1280x1024. Not many distro's can do this although the later kernels seem to be able to.

At 128M it's quite a bit smaller than previous at 146M.

The help file hasn't been updated.

Cheers

The xz compression does make quite a difference....... good for some lower ram machines.

Pemasu,

Do you recommend the high Xorg pet in the repo? Currently I'm running Exprimo in Vesa. Anything I should know before I try it?

Thanks,

Eathray

You will need xorg high pet or sfs for certain apps...like google earth.
Those people who need it could tell more. I usually dont need it.
Also...when you know your graphics manufacturer, you can extract the pet and copy only the driver of you graphics. You really dont need more from that xorg high than one driver.

Oh vesa driver....I dont think so that you will get graphics acceleration for vesa driver...since it is generic driver.

Smokey01. Thank you of feedback. Help file...err...is it available already somewhere...or do you mean if I have done something for it. I am not quite sure what we decided at last. Call it laziness...and that I really havent had time for any other than creating these updates....which seems to shape up at last.

If the dpup exprimo help is ready...I will include it immediately.

I tested and followed slacko kernel testing thread....and was convinced that 3.1.10 is the best newer kernel choice. 3.2.X kernels had some serious bugs still.

James C. Thank for your quick report about working network. I am relieved that the problem was so devastating but also easy to fix.
