Semme,

Happy new year to you. For all the time that you spent helping me get Linux + Jack up and running, I feel I should at least try to convert you to ukuleleism
check out Jake (head prophet of ukuleleism).

Thanks,

I have bookmarked the Symlink page. I will study it next week after getting out of town and away from computers for the weekend. Only taking my wife and kids and ukulele.

You have achieved GOD status Semme.

Thanks,
Tug

Tug, you're <wink> welcome. That you'll be going frugal maybe stick to ext3 on the hard drive. Opt for an ext3 (3fs) savefile as well. As you build your system you'll want to save it from time to time (somewhere else on your partition) and I'd suggest doing this while under a live boot, aka: [pfix=ram]. My reasoning? Experience reminds me backups are best done *outside* the OS.

Hey, and Tug.. once you get situated again go ahead and install your qjackctl. Remember to choose "download and install selected pkgs" from it's dependencies tab. To finalize the install you'll need to redo this in order to tie it all together. I've attached an updated pkg for convenience. md5=d101f853277048cfe659594c1d7ba952

PS- Quick take on <wink> symbolic links. Little practice is all it takes.

Semme,

Thanks for all your help. I will start with a Frugal install on my other spare computer and see how that goes.

Thanks again,
Tug

Tug, I'm on 5.28. And if I were you I'd stick with it. Refrain from full installs and stick to frugals. They're a cinch to deal with and have the benefit of easy savefile backups. This way if you crash out or something bad happens, recovery's quick. Don't know what happened here but I'll tell ya to be wary when it comes to installing pkgs "outside" Pups pkg manager.

Semme,

Here is the next one. While I am trying to get this one working, I have another old computer upstairs. I think I might start with an earlier version of Puppy on that one and work from scratch.

Which version are you using?

Nah, you'll be fine. I'd say lose that 4.3.2 qt pkg, reboot- then see what qjack says after launch.

There's something not right here..

Maybe I am incompetent.
I may have grabbed it off the Internet while doing searches for Jack + puppy Linux - not sure.

Would you suggest that I uninstall all the stuff that I put in for Jack and try again-if so what exactly do I need to install?

That's what I meant, thanks.

Do you remember where you grabbed your qt4/v4.3.2 pkg from.. the one that's in /opt?

Is it listed under installed pkgs in pkg manager? There's something not right here..

Tug- your install setup?

I did a full install with the internal IDE hard drive if that is what you mean?? A dual boot with XP.

Maybe that isn't what you are asking..
