Lenovo ThinkPad X100e Dual Core Review

This seams to be just what I want for my Netbook. I am the stage in my research where I get info for you lot :D. According to this Category:X100e - ThinkWiki You need to enable bluetooth in windows to use it in linux. Is this correct? If so this is a show stopper as I plan to get a refund for windows. Which means I can't boot into it.

On the page: Category:X100e - ThinkWiki I noticed this link: ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate (BDC-2) - ThinkWiki which I think revivals that bluetooth does work on Linux :D!

Puppy Linux and wireless issues on Lenovo Thinkpad x100e

I booted Lucid Puppy 5.2.5 from USB and loved the responsiveness compared to Linux Mint Debian Edition Xfce 64-bit (201104) and Windows 7. I didn't have the patience to get Archlinux running, nor do I have the patience I used to to install Gentoo and get the flags right, wait on the build, etc.

In Mint, wireless would act like it connected and authenticated, but then wouldn't work. And even with all of the fixes I put on it- it would freeze after a while and not let me have any input (even if plugged in a mouse). I saw the notes in http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:X100e and read through blogs, etc. Just haven't gotten it fixed yet.

In thinkwiki it looks like wireless issues should have been solved in newer Linux distros: "Note: as of kernel 2.6.32-22.33 wireless should work out of the box (the latest kernel on Ubuntu Lynx has these updates). Neither the Realtek provided drivers or the staging drivers support injection at this time." And an audio-jack issue was solved in the 2.6.34 kernel.

Would anyone be interested in trying to fix it in the default Puppy distro and then maybe providing a build that they could link here and I could test if they don't have an x100e to try it out?

It would be nice if they had a way to upgrade x100e BIOS via USB key. I can't get their iso on usb. :( Tried a number of ways. Can't even mount the iso image to manually copy files. I guess the answer is to make the USB boot XP/Vista/Windows 7 bootable and then run the BIOS utility. BartPE or whatever. If I would have known this ahead of time, I wouldn't have installed Linux until having updated the BIOS.

I think the X100e's miniPCI wifi device requires the Realtek r8192se_pci driver.
It's available for Puppy versions 5.1 - 5.2.8 here -

Don't confuse "se" with "ce".

If that doesn't work, you will need to give us the results of this command -
