For testing. The most recent version of Pmusic 2.3.0, plus a new build of the most recent ffmpeg multimedia libraries 0.8.9 with some new configure options from shinobar.
I could not find streamripper in the package, and Pmusic won't offer it's best.
  • playback of twice as many radio-stations.
    Now 11000 in the db.
  • show meta-information of tracks while streaming radio.
  • Download stream, split it up to files (tracks) and name the files by meta information.
This is managed by the new Radio-Hits module.

Thanks Sigmund. That's why we test. Can you recommend which version of streamripper to include?

I think the issue is with Quickpet->SFS Get.
It will not do the download of the SFS file without having a save file.
It will not work for downloading if you boot a live CD with option pfix=ram.

Yes, what you say is true Bigpup, but SFS-Load can work, can't it? One can download to any available disk, or download previously. It is a way to use an sfs without creating a save file.

The latest version (1.64.6) of streamripper is from March 2009, so the choice should be easy :D

Yes, I admire SM for several reasons. I just wish it were faster. But, SM in Puppy still opens faster than Chrome in Windows 7, on the same computer!
SeaMonkey is pretty fast in Gentoo as well..... :)

Gentoo? I always fail at booting that one frugally.
What is it about them being that nasty :)

Thanks for the SFS but when I tested it in Lazy puppy
then it went to a site with a lot of ads. I guess that is
not the case for Lucid 528?
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

Having lockup and freeze problems with this version of Firefox 9 pet.
Others posting problems at the above topic link.

I did not remove Firefox 8. Just installed the Firefox 9 pet. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Went back to using the Firefox 8 pet you made earlier.
It works fine.

Let's Call This Testing for Now! At least it's on the fast server ;-)

This is a new version from the previous 9.0.1 pet. This is 9.0.1-2. The code below is implemented in this new pet.

Firefox 9.0.1 seems very sensitive to how it is started. One way it starts but it locks up. Another way it doesn't lock up but flashplayer doesn't work. This way seems to work.

Code: Select all

/usr/lib/firefox/run-mozilla.sh /usr/lib/firefox/firefox
Firefox 9.0.1-2 -> http://diddywahdiddy.net/Puppy500/Firef ... -Lucid.pet

You should uninstall any other Firefox pets before installing 9.0.1-2. And it should be OK to update--for a while at least ;-)

USB 3.0 and 5.2.8

#975 Post by tony »

Hi,

I am using 528 on a usb 3.0 flash drive.

It works well plugged into a usb 2.0 port but when plugged into usb 3.0, the boot up only gets as far as loading drivers and then can't find lupu_528.sfs.

I assume that the usb 3.0 driver is not being loaded early enough. Is there any remedy for this?

Regards Tony.

Could it maybe need the usb delay code in the boot?
I am too lazy to look it up hopefully somebody remember.

pusb=wait 6 or something

If you mean in the menu.lst booting from GRUB

timeout 10

Will wait for ten seconds before default OS is loaded.

Or is it this one:

usb-storage.delay_use=
[UMS] The delay in seconds before a new device is
scanned for Logical Units (default 5).

Info from here:http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation ... meters.txt

Firefox 9.0.1-2 working well here.No lock-ups and flash now behaving as it should.
Thanks playdayz :)

Edit

Just discovered after two simulations that Chromium 17 is broken after installing the FF 9.0.1-2.pet
I see this in a terminal.

sh-4.1# chromium
/usr/lib/chrome-linux/chrome: /usr/lib/libnssutil3.so: version `NSSUTIL_3.13' not found (required by /usr/lib/libnss3.so)
sh-4.1#

Brown_Mouse, Did you uninstall the Firefox 8 pet? I didn't think it mattered but it looks like it does in this case. After you uninstall the FF 8 pet you will need to reinstall the FF 9.0.1-2 pet.

There is also a Chromium 18 pet -> ftp://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pet ... -Lucid.pet

I have both Chromium 18 and Ff 9.0.1-2 running compatibly, so it can be done.

Yes that fixed it!!Reverted to a backup savefile, uninstalled FF8 and then installed FF9.0.1-2

I keep my Firefox .mozilla directory on /mnt/home and link it to root but for some strange reason this got wiped and I lost all my bookmarks. Not sure if that was tied in with updating but luckily I had a backup.

Also updated to Chromium 18 and that is running well.

Thanks again.
