Hm, I'll try setting the router to WPA and the Puppy 5.28 too, on my other computer.

At present it's set to WEP.

.........................

I struggled with Frisbee for a while - how to use it is not clear.
Are there user guides available?

I'll edit this post from the other computer.

linuxcbon,
Yes, ibiblio.org has been extremely slow recently. I don't know why. I can only hope it improves. You might try one of the mirrors when you use PPM to install a pet.

glxgears is in Xorg_High since glxgears requires the hardware acceleration of GLX/Mesa. If you install the proprietary ATI Catalyst driver from Quickpet or PPM then there are both glxgears and fgl_glxgears. You can run either in a terminal. Quickpet -> Drivers to install either Xorg_High or the proprietary drivers.

Yes, /usr/11R7/lib is empty. What are you looking for?

I have had nothing but continuous trouble with the wpa connection with this version

I struggled with Frisbee for a while - how to use it is not clear.
Are there user guides available?
stiginge, sheldonisaac, scsijon
From what I have heard it is definitely worth while to try frisbee if there are wireless problems, including wpa. It can be installed from Menu -> Internet -> Frisbee Network Manager Install. The Frisbee thread is http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 78&t=64472 I gather that the author of Frisbee, jemimah, might not be around now, but someone else might give assistance.

I certainly hope Lucid will work for you, but one great thing about the Puppy world is that there always alternatives.

UPDATE: grub4dos-0.4.4.v1.7.1

#446 Post by shinobar »

Was failed with some environment when the 1st partition is ext4 file system (thanks to jim3630 and billtoo).
grub4dos-0.4.4.v1.7.1.pet (Update: 29 Oct 2011) now available.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=51697

* 29oct11 v1.7.1: fix was failed with ext4, drive letter, gtkdialog4 thanks to 01micko, help button, no sort probepart, bootable check

EDIT: You need not upgrade grub4dos as for the lupu-528.
The ext4 failure depends on the fdisk version, and the failure does not occur on lupu.

This is a cumulative update that includes all of Instant Update 001. It can be installed on top of IU 001, or IU 001 can be uninstalled first. ;-)
Playdayz

Probably a silly question but does this latest RC instant update 002 replace 'test03_Instant_Update-Lucid528-002.pet'??

Yes Brown Mouse. test03 was an earlier version of this same update. If test03 is installed, please install this update on top of it, don't uninstall test03.

(This is the right advice on test03)

Yes Brown Mouse. test03 was an earlier version of this same update--it has been much improved thanks to testers and contributors. The thing to do would be to uninstall test03 and then install this RC (Release Candidate). Thanks.
Hi Playdayz

That seems to have caused me a few problems.
After uninstalling the test03 .pet I'm unable to install anything at all and cant open the 'Puppy Package Manager'.Tried a reboot and still no go.

I see this in a console.
sh-4.1# ppm
/usr/local/petget/filterpkgs.sh: line 127: kill: (28861) - No such process
/usr/local/bin/ppm: line 259: gtkdialog3: command not found

Edit
Quickpet doesn't open either.

Oh shoot. Hold on. I apologize.

Take this file and rename it gtkdialog3, that is, just remove the .gz. Then put it into /usr/sbin, replacing whatever is there. I think things will work after that, and I will fix the update.

+1

after un-installing update03 and others then unable to get ppm to open or clicking on a pet it would not open. also clicking on a partition would not open.

jim3630, Yes, please re-download the update and then it should work with pfix=ram, as well as applied on top of test03.

Brown Mouse, Can you look in /usr/sbin please and tell me if there is a symlink named gtkdialog that points to gtkdialog?

This is separate from the Super multimedia Update. I think that was the problem. Oh, I think that was the problem--I need to figure out how to handle it. Please wait on the multimedia update--there will be a version 2 of that soon.

And PPM still doesn't open? Can you run ppm in a terminal again?

Did you have the multimedia update installed?

No,PPM and Quickpet both wont open.I get this:-
/usr/local/petget/filterpkgs.sh: line 127: kill: (23405) - No such process
/usr/local/bin/ppm: line 259: /usr/sbin/gtkdialog3: Permission denied

Yes I had the multimedia update installed from several weeks back, unless I missed a further update of it?
