Three-Headed Dog 5.2.8.005 Updated APR 25 2012
battery failure and blinking not happening today. sabotage of my charger cable is now the suspect. mostly i don't leave any wire cables of any sort in my various hotel rooms due to past problems but have been a bit lax in the past couple of weeks and looks like i've paid the price yet again. . always in the same place, subsurface fracture/breakage just before the moulded terminal end connector plug so that it is very difficult to fix.
new end plug and/or charger is cheaper than batteries any how.
till now had already two new replacement end plugs, and one complete new full charger for this one eeepc

On no it isn't! Split the moulded-on plug axially with a Stanley, dig out/unsolder the leads and fit an el cheapo demountable plug which come in packs of 10 for a couple of quid or less. Alternatively, recruit a proverbial child of six.fracture/breakage just before the moulded terminal end connector plug so that it is very difficult to fix.
thanks for the detailed instructions sage. Have in the past considered adding a soldering thingy to my travel bag but rejected it as just too far for the times i would use it. My chinese swiss army knife could replace the stanley. One time i just used masking tape. One time the guy who sold me the plug soldered it for free. Finding the exact replacement plug is the other problem trick. With my previous toshiba had to get someone to solder the leads three times before i decided to change hotel.Sage wrote:On no it isn't! Aliases not working in Roxterm
Hi,
I've defined a custom prompt and some aliases in ~/.bashrc, but they're not working in Roxterm, even though I ticked the "Login shell" box under Preferences->Edit Current Profile->Command in the Roxterm menu.
Aliases are working in Urxvt though. Anyone know if I need to do something else to get Roxterm to read ~/.bashrc?

Re: Aliases not working in Roxterm
in preferences >Edit Current Profile > Command - I click on Custom Command and add bash in the text box. This picks up changes I have made to /.bashrcPuppeteer wrote:Hi,

No Blank Screen
529:
Having a problem with 'No Blank Screen', it doesn't want to work.
I'm running the 13 Iron browser.
After selection the option for 'no blank' went to a video site, after 10-minutes of watching the video, my screensaver pops up on the screen. I r/clicked and selected the settings, a small window appeared with several options but... 'It Was Frozen'. I could not close it. Trying several things, no dice, just frozen. There was something there about Adobe Flash but I don't recall what it was. Had to close the browser to exit.
I run No Blank Screen on a Dpup with Iron-12 browser and it works perfect.

Screen Blank
'Thanks playdayz' We'll give that a try!

PS: I might add... 529 overall is a very 'thought-out Puppy', I believe it would be (at the present time) one of the (if not THE) easiest for a newbie to use and enjoy, I find that most stuff just works like it should without problems!

gtkdialog
Looks like you're using an old version of gtkdialog. Latest is 297. Yours doesn't have file filters. Including svn would be helpful.
Edit: I see, it's in the devx....updated; now there's filters
Everything looking good !!
Note: You might update dillo as well.

pwidgets seems to want libiw.so.29 (I think there's a link in lucid-5.2.5).
I also wrote an on/off switch for the weather widget...I'm trying to track down the
ram issue.
edit. So far no ram issue with weather-station switched off and the correct link.
Code: Select all
ln -s /lib/libiw.so.30 /usr/lib/libiw.so.29
ram issue.

iwlagn wifi firmware update Sep 27 2011
Each new kernel upgrade brings an updated version of the Intel iwlagn wifi driver,
and it seems that newer firmware is needed with each change. Groan.
So here is the latest Intgel wifi firmware, compatible with the 2.6.37.x kernel in Luci-529 ...
and probably other recent Puppy versions with new kernels.
The complete firmware package is now quite large at 1.6 MB.
If you want to know exactly what firmware is compatible with a particlar version of the iwlagn driver,
query the driver with this command -
Developers - esp. Larry, Mick, pemasu,
for future releases where you include this firmware as standard, you will want it as a tarball in /lib/modules/all-firmware
and I have also packaged it this way, available here -
