Battery monitor

#123 Post by Snail »

Has anyone got a fix for the missing battery monitor? So far, this is the only really annoying 529 bug (for me) on this laptop.

Hi Beem !

You ask me for an example -link.

For example :
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xg7hou ... cial_music

Firefox 7 works.

It is not so realy important .I am just courious about it.
In dpupExprimo this browsers work on Daylymotion.

backi, it is easier for people to have info like links so they can test themselves.
I did so in 5X5 but with SeaMonkey 2.3.1
I get a lot of interruptions. Every second or so.
Even if I pause for a while and continue playing, the video isn't smooth.
Maybe part of the problem is the web site.

Also your machine spec's might be interesting to know. My Thinkpad is an old one and not the highest range.

Hi beem !

The "no video on daylymotion with Chromium and Iron" ,
seems to me specific to 529.
On DpupExprimo it works.

But maybe (if i find some time) will try it with 528.

As i sayd ,it is not realy important.

But sometimes, if there is a such a little fucking problem ,it is invoking the intellectual pitbull in me, who keeps on fighting for his bone.

Cheers !

In fact you didn't specify what exectly was not working. Not at all? Slow motion?

I tries a long time ago Chromium and didn't like it very much.
But as a test I downloaded the versio 15 and installed in 528 as sfs.

Like in 5X5 and SeaMonkey, the video plays, but stuttering.

I blame my machine for this as the CPU is working at 100%.

Hi Beem !

To answer your question.

If i go to Dailymotion searching my desired video in searchbox-search is working -desired video comes -but not possible to start.
Dailymotion only see the black video screen no starting of the video possible

In Two headed Dog the browser works.

backi, For me the Miles Davis video does not play in 5.2.8 with Firefox or with any of the Chromium-based browsers. it does play as a preview if I click embed, but that is not an answer. When I click the link I go to dailymotion and get a black video window with a circle spinning inside (a film reel I think). Also, if I go to the dailymotion main page the videos there do work, they all say Hulu. But if I search for the MIles Last Performance--but it still does not play.

Oh wait a minute, now it is playing in Google Chrome 13. Great video, btw, thanks.

The link to Miles' Last performance is working for me in luci-529 (Three-Headed Dog) in Google Chrome 13. Also in Seamonkey. And working in lupu-528 in Google Chrome 13 and Iron 13 I think there was just something freaky with the web site for a while this morning--it seeems that for a while the website could not connect to the advertising.

In using the Chromium-based browsers one should make sure to use the updated libgconf (which will be in the upcoming update).

Here is the first Test of Instant Update 001 for Lucid 5.2.8
(Also applicable to Three-Headed Dog)

Click the link to download the pet and then click to install - Reboot

X libgconf2-4_3.1.6 to enable Chromium-based browsers
X libgconf_DEV-3.1.6
X Help -> LupuNews puppylogo96 image without being connected
X update Firewallstate 2.0 tasmod
X update PupControl 1.7 radky includes very cool PupSysinfo
X update Pburn 3.3.5 zigbert
X change to Start with Playlist in gnome-mplayer for dvd’s otherwise gnome-mplayer shows black screen with audio until one changes size of screen - for dvd's, XineDVD is still better, but some people might expect the default media player to play dvd's with no fuss, not unreasonably ;-)
X add Getflash (modified) from Slacko to update (or install) Flashplayer
X add Cloud Puppy by sszindian, under Utility

From rerwin:
# 1. Update /etc/rc.d/MODULESCONFIG.
# 2. Reduce occurrences of DNS not being set for ppp connections to some USB-modem ISPs. (/etc/ppp/wvdial)
# 3. Retain access to prename script if devx also loaded (with a different script of the same name) (usr/share/applications/prename.desktop).
# 4. Set "show_msg=NO" configuration option for both of dillo's dillorc files (adding the one in /etc/dillo).
# 5. Correct missing "fi" statement in bareview script.
# 6. Personal Settings updates:
# . . a. Complete the hostname-change process by cycling connections and prompting user to log out.
# . . b. Simplify numlock preset logic.
# . . c. Avoid "barks" during full country-settings display but retain them for first runs with no pupsave files or full installations.
# . . d. Integrate firstrun-1.8.4 into lupu version of personal settings script but exclude new "extralang" support (which could be provided by a dot-pet package).

Question for Everyone: Should Three-Headed Dog try to accommodate more drivers and firmware, even to the extent of growing by 5MB (or more)?

Just one users opinion..... since Three-Headed Dog has already passed the point of loading in ram on a 256 MB machine I'd see no problem with extra drivers in order to work on more hardware. Additionally, since it's using the same kernel as Slacko, drivers and firmware should work there too.And vice versa.

Go for it! Thank you for this distribution with the later 2.6.37.6 kernel. Lucid 5.2.9 is a solid release that should continue to raise the bar.

Thanks,
Jim
