Google+ invite |
|
I noticed that in Lucid 526 my webcam worked with Google+
- it did not with previous flash based systems (if that is what they are using)
Not even used this but I have a 'Puppy circle'
- hopefully it will be more useful than 'buzz'
Google+ invite
http://goo.gl/KLHNs
OK so far I have managed to unblock ericaneri and ttuuuxx who were in my blocked circle - and move them to Puppy not sure how . . . and added Barrys daughter Amy and Linus Torvald to my Puppy circle
Did not even know Linus existed - I thought he was a penguin myth. Seems he goes diving . . . really is part penguin . . .
Help me out here or in Google+ guys - not sure what I am doing but it seems to have potential as a medium - for example a google+ circle for developers could be set up . . .?

@ed
Yes exactly. I see the usefulness of Google+ more as a means of doing serious research rather than as a means of doing mindless social "interaction". I don't even bother with Facebook for that reason.
Examples: SPARKS is a handy feature of Google+
It functions something like a news feed. You can search for any topic(s) that you fancy and the stuff gets delivered to your doorstep in the form of web links e.g I have got SPARKS set up for Puppy, Ubuntu, Linux, Linux Mint and Android for example. The Android feed is particularly useful.
You can follow people who are of interest to you. I follow Linux Torvalds for instance on Google+ Yes, he really is a human LOL!
My SPARKS Puppy Linux feed only gives sparse results so far. Barry and other Puppy version developers should create their own Google+ accounts and post/share stuff to that. Anyone can then either follow them or receive their stuff via a SPARKS feed (or both). Could become indispensable to Puppy users and developers.
For project managers who need to confer privately, have a look at HUDDLE. This lets you start a kind of "conference session" which specifically invited members can attend.
I reckon Google+ has a really interesting future coming up for itself. It's usefulness speaks for itself.

Ah just found sparks on left hand side
and also sent a g+ (what do they call them? a tweet for G+?)
from my Android phone using voice recognition . . .
Facebook is great software
that effectively does trivia very well
No substance but loads of data mining . . .
It is effectively and practically useless
- a sort of cyber hairdresser . . .
So I too have a holding account but my
old account has been faced off
I do still use twitter - far more basic
and useful
G+ has potential where Buzz did not
Obviously it is not usable for those head wrapped
in tin foil and frightened of all gaggles of Google
It is starting to make sense . . .
Maybe Barry should register Quirky for Quirky

I have not joined FaceBook because them spy a lot.
Would not G+ also be like living in a house where the walls was made of glass neighbor looking when I go to the loo
Hahah I lived in a house that was so transparent that I could hear when the old man living three stairs up went to the loo and him peeing and then flushing and cutting the light switch. I mean the light switch how many dB does them produce and then three stories down?
With FB or G+ the whole world would know that I have tripped over my big feet and landed on the floor whatever.
The good thing would be that I could reach all the others Noobs out there and we could start the Noobs Linux Circle Self Help Club and help each other out?

Please do not post such photos. Please.
I keep saying this. We are moving towards increased transparency privately and publically. I know quite a lot about you nooby from your posts
Your posts can be collated and searched through (data mined) but this would be to try and sell you memory enhancement supplements or some such marketing relevancy.
There are people on the forum who are very private. They have every right to conduct themselves in this manner.
g+ is just another way of interacting and that is always open to exploitation and abuse.
Why worry - unless you have no alternative . . .

Hahah there is no alternative. Smartphones are either Android and thus Google or them are Ms Windows or the Apple variety. Okay RIM want to sell BlackBerry and that taste good but them are not so big over here.
