Mostly I would like to know if PUI recognizes different partitions ok. And can you make puppy installation with it now. Does the mounted drive pngoverlay works straight. There are bugs in 500.2 so that version will be very temporary. I have already found that my pet for notecase missed some libs. I will add them to next build tomorrow.

Uget is still unresolved. I havent get good grip to any errors which would show me the way.

Anyway, quite a many bugs have been found and many of them has been fixed. I have now almost done the e17 pet which has those modified scripts included.

I just would need nice wm switcher gui.

If I promise to include all PupApps to the dpup, maybe radky could include e17 to the wm switcher or is it there already ?
Fine idea, I installed all of Radky's little applications including PupApps to Iguleders E17 squeeze dpup and they worked great, even included PupApps as an application executed from the E17 bar. I also installed all of radky's little apps to your experimental version. Looking forward to your E17 implementation. I thought that I would be switching back to JWM, however , Iguleders E17 is superlative and I elected to stay with it although he did share the necessary code to switch back and forth between E17 and JWM.

Haven't tried the installer, however, all my partitions including ntfs, ext3, ext4, and swap were recognized properly.

Cheers,
Jim

It seems to me that going back to JWM is typing in the X prompt xwin JWM.
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

According to Iguleder's response to my question about switching, it's a little more involved
Iguleder wrote:In order to set JWM as the default desktop, exit X (Enlightenment->Exit or JWM's "Exit X Server" or whatever it was), then do this:

Code: Select all

echo jwm > /etc/windowmanager
or that to switch to E17:

Code: Select all

echo enlightenment_start > /etc/windowmanager
Then, start X again:
Code:
startx

That's all, the change is persistent.
However, I liked E17 and never switched to JWM.

Radky sent me wm switcher which worked nicely between jwm and e17. I will include this one to the next version along with e17.
There are some other minor changes I have to think about also.
I will now also test all Radkys applications also. And check the recent version status.
I am not sure if I can do all this today.

An other thing to consider. There isnt any udev package installed from squeeze.I dont know how this affect to for example usb 3g modem recogntion and usb modeswich function.

I tested squeeze package udev 167p and...it is much different than lucid udev 151-12. So much that it broke dpup.

Well....I hacked together udev package from Barrys udev 167p and from squeeze udev 167p....but I really dont have knowledge how to test the result. At least my laptop didnt suffer from my result. It would need devices which needs certain udev rules to function before I would know if rules are used.

Unfortunately it would need some guru like rerwin to inspect the result.
I wont include my hacked result to next version, I just reminded of the lack of it.

I gave 5002 a quick run live pfix=ram run on the Athlon XP box and did a full install in Vbox on another machine. Looked pretty good ,will test more later.

5.0.0.3 version is now processing. I made already build and tested it, but I had forgetten one icon and also my safety hack for muted sound at bootup. I added them to the build.
Next version has jwm, e17 and wmswitcher in the menu.
Thank you Radky.
Menu > Help opens Smokey01`s Phelp 101 version.
Radky`s all PupApplications are included. Thank you of your great apps, Radky.
Lxappearance is changed back to dpup gtk-chtheme. There is reasons.
Freememapplet_tray has right click to open Lxtask.
So far found bugs are hopefully fixed.
I compiled little older Uget version and it hopefully works now. I had that version from 3/2011 and so it fairly recent. Didnt bother to download atm newer version.
Menu`s submenu content has been arranged little better now.

Iso size now 127 Mb. I am reluctant to make this base version any larger.
One main sfs. No separate z...sfs. It hopefully helps Dave S.

I will probably upload it tonight.

Uploading now. I forgot to change default wm as jwm so next version seems to boot into e17.
I had forgotten couple of left over icons to Pinboard in the jwm. Remove them. They are obsolete. I dont know from what cache they are from. Need to chase them down.
I have also changed synclient to use wheezy one. It has better movement support for my touchpad. Might help others. For me touchpad movement slider didnt work over 1.0. Now it works as it should, even to the 10. Dont test. I tried it and had difficulties to get it back.

Before anyone asks. Wm swither in e17 is found under desktop in the Applications menu.

Now I should get familiar with e17 also. Luckily here is whole thread about it. And a lot info and link to the e17 guide in that thread.

frugal manual hdd install to ext3. broadom built in wl.ko connects via Frisbee flawlessly as usual. background wallpaper changer didn't work error about pinboard not chosen.

not used e17 so will take some time poking around to do the usual checks.

pemasu did you keep advancecomp and optipng in the devx.sfs? looking good!

------

wm switcher working here and in jwm background changer works.
------
renamed savefile on this install starting with fresh save and pfix=ram.

Burning a cd right now.

There are still a lot of those old boxes being used around the world. No need in getting rid of something that still works. :)

And the answer is yes, 5003 is running live pfix=ram on a 256 mb ram box with the cd unmounted and ejected.

I did a manual frugal install of 003.I installed the devx + kernel
source + ati-driver-installer-11-7-x86.x86_64.run.

Tue 2 Aug 2011 Operating System: Puppy Squeeze-5.0.0.3 Linux 2.6.39
5.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M880G [Mobility
Radeon HD 4200]
oem: ATI ATOMBIOS product: RS880M 01.00

X Server: Xorg Driver: (II) glx: vendor=FireGL - ATI Technologies Inc.
(II) Module fglrx: vendor=FireGL - ATI Technologies Inc. (II) Module
fglrxdrm: vendor=FireGL - ATI Technologies Inc.
X.Org version: 1.7.7
dimensions: 1024x600 pixels (270x158 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes
AMD Athlon(tm) II Neo K125 Processor
Core 0: 1695 MHz

It is working pretty well after installing the ati driver.

Manual frugal installation of 5.0.0.3 on an ext4 partition. It's working great and I've installed the following applications which all appear to be working fine:

Bibletime_lucid-2.7.2a.sfs
devx_squeeze_5.0.0.3.sfs
jre-1.6u25-i586.sfs
kernel_src-2.6.39-3-patched-lupe28.sfs
LibreOffice-3.4.1_en-US-fixed.sfs
Firefox-6.0 beta Firefox web browser
thunderbird-5.0 Thunderbird Email Client
wine-1.3.25-i486_v2 Wine Windows Program Loader
Acrobat_Reader-9.3.3-Lucid Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF application
BibleAnalysis-4.1.0 Bible study
eSword-9 e-Sword
theWord-3.2.1 theWord
LHP_sys_info-0.5 Lighthouse System Information & Video Report
binutils_2.20.1-16 The GNU assembler, linker and binary utilities
cpp-4.1_4.1.2-29 The GNU C preprocessor
gcc-4.1-base_4.1.2-29 The GNU Compiler Collection (base package)
gcc-4.1_4.1.2-29 The GNU C compiler

Unfortunately, still getting an error message re finding 'ldconfig' when trying to install NVIDIA-Linux-x86-280.13.run. I placed a link to ldconfig in /usr/bin, got error re finding 'ld' which was corrected by installing binutils. Next error re finding 'cc'. Installed gcc but that didn't correct the message so I gave up chasing it.

In any event, it looks fast and solid and your E17 implementation works well. I've mainly just changed some icons and added launchers. Iguleder will have many bugs solved thanks to your efforts.

Cheers,
Jim
