Thanks for the several suggestions!
I just now got to try one of them ...
I tried this inside one folder and it appears to have converted the contents there and the folder one-level below.
At least I think it did ...
| Quote: |
# /usr/local/adjustimage/scaleto800 *.* *.* |
Did I do this incorrectly?

I can't get pmusic or pupradio or mplayer to play this stream:
http://www.myspace.com/manafestca/music/songs/glory-you-are-33892986
Are they doing something different or am I getting it wrong ... again, please?

Click on it, and you can see it's not an audio stream. "I believe" (that they want some $$)

Edoc. I would have done it with this command:
/usr/local/adjustimage/scaleto800 *
which converts all the files inside the folder....when you launch the command inside that folder....to the /root/my-documents/images/800
But it looks like your command do the job also. It converts them also to the /root/my-documents/images/800
Yeah....I could create symlinks to the /usr/bin and then the commands would be launchable without whole path....
My intention has been the rox right click usage per picture...but mass scaling option would be good also...

They do have a "Buy" option but there's what appears to be a Play arrow in a circle to hear a sample.
I click on it and it appears to recognize the click but there's no audio.

IP HDTV Tuner Subject description: GTK Config? |
|
I just received a SiliconDust HDTV tuner that puts the output on an IP.
Same as this except that mine came via WOOT:
<http://www.amazon.com/SiliconDust-HDHomeRun-Definition-Television-HDHR3-US/dp/B004HO58SO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1336780397&sr=1-1>
To SiliconDust's great testimony they provide drivers for Apple, Linux, and MS versions of windows.
They list MythTV on the box for Linux but here's where their Linux link takes you once you bring up the IP address of the device:
<http://www.silicondust.com/support/hdhomerun/downloads/linux/>
Question:
1. Will this work with Puppy or is there something about it that is a problem?
2. Can this be made a PET or SFS?
3. Does this appear to replace the need for MythTV, or is this necessary for MythTV to work with this device?
Thanks!

Homerun source seems to create GUI for tuning your tuner card and feeding the right firmware for it. So...it just configuration gui. Useful and needed of course.
MythTv is full live TV media management software. I suppose you could watch and record TV broadcasts with VLC also...I once did so wiht my TV tuner usb stick. Worked just fine. I even posted my steps to murga-forum...at Lucid Puppy 5.1. time. Should be still somewhere inside this forum.
To create a pet of the hdhomerun_config_gui. Sure...of course. Compile it...install it to the folder and create pet....with menu entry included. Trivial stuff. Might do it when I am with Dpup 5.1.4 next time...but now I watch livetv.ru netstream....ice hockey...with HDMI to my big LCD TV..in Upup Precise....so cant do it now.
But it compiled just fine in Upup Precise....I do want to test if it compiles ok in Upup Precise....so I wanted to test compile it.

OK, thanks re. the PET advice, I will wait on you as I always break those things.
I just looked at the Upup Precise thread.
What is (are) the advantage (s) of Upup Precise over dup Exprimo 5x14, please?
I'm also going to have a look at the Puppy Cloud threads ...
Thanks!

Right now...Upup Precise is just plaything for continuing Barry Kaulers work with Precise Pangolin. I have used Barry`s Precise Puppy woof specs and improved them somewhat and got some more things to work.
I didnt have more profound plan for it. It is and was a Puppy build for experimenting with it. It is somewhat useful already.
I would consider it still heavily alpha release. And I am quite busy atm. I dont have much time for puplet building.
As always....if it aint broken....dont fix it.

Thanks for the clarification!
We sure appreciate 5x14 and hoped it would be extended and/or supported for a while to come - not necessarily in a big way but just to stay current with typical needs.
Our 16 yr old son and I will be studying HTML5 using Robin Nixon's "HTML5 Crash Course".
He is also learning iPhone/iPod and Android app programming via an online friend.
I'm inching toward setting up my domains on a Linode virtual server and exploring some degree of Cloud Puppy usage there as well.
Its a pain to try to keep everything sync'd across a laptop, netbook, and smartphone - always seems to be something missing when I am away from home and want it!

I'm still using Exprimo 5.X.12 (I think it is). Have been using it for 5 or so months, it seems, and it is working flawlessly on my old PIII desktop, except in last 2 weeks the shutdown has ceased to work. Nothing happens. For a few days I was able to select reboot and then hit the power switch as the new boot came up, but now the reboot menu item doesn't do anything, either. I'm booting from the CD each time. Today I just had to kill the power on my merrily running puppy, and it hurt me to do that.
On a separate note, IMO FireFox 11.0 is the acme of FF versions. It has never frozen or died, and I usually have 20 to 30 tabs open, on this 560MHz PIII with about 800MB of RAM. Viewing videos "live" is out of the question, though.

But I am thinking that the PET you described, to allow MythTV, makes the most sense given the extra features of MythTV.
WDYT?

Any chance these Debian Etch instructions for MythTV would be helpful to someone trying to build a PET or SFS for MythTV for Puppy Linux dpup Exprimo 5x14?

I tried ...
As usual, things came to a screeching halt immediately.
What am I doing wrong, please?

OK, I missed the obvious ... I hadn't downloaded and installed the devx for 5X14!
Did that and config and make appear to have run OK.
