Thanks, I'm looking forward to the update to the Dpup Exprimo SMP 5.X.10.3. It has a later kernel optimized for SMP which should work great with my equipment with i7 processors.

Cheers,
Jim

Debian packages used: squeeze...so it is dpup...exprimo...from latin means about same as squeeze. So...it is dpup squeeze...and puppy...so puppy_squeeze.
And the puplet name is Dpup Exprimo. Nothing changed. Simple.

Upload finished now.

Jim1911. I havent decided what will be the kernel for next SMP or should I use the same 3.1.0. I have now 3.1.10 - 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 kernels to choose. According to slacko experiments 3.2 is quite broken. 3.1.10 works fine...but is there any benefit to change from 3.1.0 to 3.1.10. Shinobar has compiled kernel module dependent packages...which would be nasty to lose. So...I havent made my mind yet.

Sticking with 3.1.10 which has worked well for Slacko would be good, or consider dropping back since Iguleder mentioned on the Slacko thread that 3.0.18 is the next longterm kernel.

However, my preference for the SMT version is use the later kernel.

Cheers,
Jim

I've had trouble trying to install the NVIDIA driver. I'm using kernel_src-2.6.39.4-lupe30-patched.sfs. Is that the correct kernel source?

Otherwise, 5.X.13 is working great.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim1911. As I posted earlier, the link is in first page. You have wrong source. The source you have...is that non-BFS kernel source.

http://www.iguleder.info/puppy/kernel/linux_kernel-2.6.39-4/packages/kernel_sources-2.6.39-4.sfs

Just now I understood what Peebee really meant. I played with specs and I forgot to change back to squeeze. So the name really is dpup in main sfs, lol. Well...whatever....it plays well with what happens in Puppyland. You never know....and the only stable thing is the unstable. Lol.

I will change it back when I have got some feedback...I mean if there is broken things.
Keeping the name as it was helps ppl who want to use old savefile. No need to rename savefile.

Especially I would like to hear from wireless users...whom uses Frisbee...if the frisbee_tray and /etc/init.d/Frisbee now works better. I mean the wireless connection initialization...does it now autoconnect after configuring....creating savefile and rebooting.

Hi pemasu

Sorry if my question was a bit indirect and unspecific Laughing

I tried renaming and then updating the savefile - but seemed to have sound & flsynchclient & wifi problems so I've started again with a new savefile. (so stick with dpup please)

All seems good although I did have a strange problem on the 2nd reboot - just froze with a flashing cursor after the shut down message - had to resort to poweroff button. Seems OK on subsequent reboots so......?

Frisbee wifi reconnected OK after reboot.

Cheers
peebee

I unplugged the wired network and plugged in a linksys usb wireless
adapter,Frisbee could see it but not configure it so I used Dougal's
network manager.
Now on every reboot it needs a right click on the frisbee icon in the
tray to get the wireless network up.

For me...Frisbee autoconnects...so I am poor tester. But there has been before situations where Frisbee and SNS has failed but good old Dougal`s Classic has saved the day.

By the way...I had installed the very important fix straight to the woof2 and so it was initially neglected...gconv.modules.cache file. It is needed for gtkdialog apps so that they launch as quick as they do.

I will probably tomorrow upload the fixed...real version...with all the bug fixes found.

Subject description: Kindle Reader?

Is there a native Linux reader that handles Kindle files?

I searched and did not find and reference to one.

I do not want to do the WINE thing.

I looked at Seamonkey plugins and did not find a solution there either.

Thanks!
