Huoh....finnish expression that there will be quite soon quick bug fixing update as UPDATE package and as new distro with new distro version number. The life goes on.......

EDIT. Hundred pages border exceeded. I think that I drink a class of coke for that.

petget fix

#1489 Post by shinobar »

Sorry for your inconvenience. Prepared a fix package.
http://shino.pos.to/linux/puppy/petget_ ... 120105.pet
Clicking this fix package, shown 'Please wait' message(it doesn't disappear.), then restart X.

The problem was in the last part of /usr/local/petget/i18n_head, the function vercmp.
The fix package above need not and does not affect if you have already installed the petget-barry-kauler.

I'm using the live dvd with a save file.
I installed the petget-barry-kauler-0.0.1.pet and have installed a
couple of other pets with no problems.

Thu 5 Jan 2012 Operating System: Dpup Exprimo-5.X.10 Linux 2.6.39
0.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Device 0de1 (rev a1)
oem: NVIDIA product: GF108 Board - 1071v0p1 Chip Rev

X Server: Xorg Driver: nvidia

Core 0: 2700 1: 2700 2: 2700 3: 2700 4: 2700 5: 2700 MHz

I made a pet of htop-1.0 and installed that, I'll attach it to this

days so it's been working well.

Thanks Radky of the vattery-acpitool report. I dont have that error, but....I will create to pets, one for 2.6.39 kernel and another for 3.X kernels. I will use the previous working binaries with 2.6.39.

Thank you Shinobar of the quick response and fix update. I will test it asap.

Just tested the Shinobars petget-fix-package. Now it works. I update here the Shinobars whole petget-package. The main thing with it is...if you have usb installation, Shinobars petget should save pet installations by using Puppy Package Manager (PPM) so that they are found and usable after reboot. Also uninstalling should work correctly. Ppl with hdd installations are not affected, so they can use Barrys or Shinobars....as they wish. The newest Barrys improvements are in both.

Dpup Exprimo 5.X.10

#1493 Post by Billtoo »

When I shut down the dvd tray opened to allow removing the dvd but it
continued to shut down so I ended up with a shut down computer and the
dvd tray wide open.
I suggest a "hit enter to continue" to give the user time to remove
the dvd, then have it shut the tray and poweroff.

Can't you manually close the tray after the power is off?

Not sure but on some computers that would mechanically break it?
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

I don't think it would be a great idea to force it shut.

EDIT:I don't know whether or not this was a great idea either but I
commented this part of the rc.shutdown and it has fixed the problem.

odd error when I installed this one frugally. I had no prior save file.
I wanted to test to play a mp4 but there seems to be not mplayer there at all.

Nothing happens when I click on it it in menu. What could that be about?
I go to bed now so any suggestion what is going on will be dealt with after
a delay of some 10 hours when I have waken up :)

Hi pemasu & nooby

I also have a problem with gnome-mplayer - says libgmtk is missing and this is confirmed by pfind...

This time I haven't loaded any pets except for flashplayer and the petget fix...

Code: Select all

# gnome-mplayer
gnome-mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libgmtk.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
#
Thanks
peebee

Peebee. Good pick. Thank you !!!
Woof has picked wrong gnome-mplayer package. The one without that libgmtk.
Here is the right one. It is quite small, so you can install it as it is...or extract it with rox right click and grap just the libgmtk libs to the /usr/lib.
I am atm creating packages to the bug fix release and just in time...I can fix the gnome-mplayer.

Confirmed. Also missing

gnome-mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libgmlib.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Works afterward ...even though pemasu beat me again.

James C. You got the libs from the above pet. It seems that I have managed to replace the correct gnome-mplayer pet with earlier version. Not sure how it has happened, but so what...I will fix it with next release, which will be uploaded tomorrow. If you dont find anything really serious broken.

I grabbed the libs out of 5.X10.3 .... replaced libgmtk.so.0: and then needed libgmlib.so.0: .Looks like the same version as the pet you uploaded.Working, that's the important thing.

Here's the report so far ...

I installed 5x10 on a Samsung NB30 netbook. It appears to have detected all of the hardware.

I ran the Seamonkey 2.4.1 PET.

The info pop-up info window said it was still "processing package database files" for too-long so I ignore it and opened SM (it takes over the Firefox icon on the desktop, same as in 5x9) and SM appears to work fine so far.

I chose SM Updates and downloaded 2.6.1 (20.0 MB, about 4min download). It appears to function OK as well.

I made an error in typing the password in Frisbee and rather than it prompting for a new password it ignored a request to "create profile" (since the password had failed it seems not-intuitive to assume that any profile would be created).

I had to guess that I needed to go to "Edit saved profiles" and delete the existing then try again.

More as I get a chance to test further ...

Edoc. That pet installation message bug has been fixed, see the thread earlier.
The browser icon change is due to the /usr/local/bin/defaultbrower file. The pet probably had that file with Seamonkey as the choice.

Cool.

It is a good thing, just thought I'd make the observation so others are not surprised.

Also, I used the Touchpad settings to activate vertical and horizontal scrolling and also toggled-on the two-finger feature ... will test those later.

And, I observed the little Laptop app, will have to toy with that later as well! :-)

Thanks!
