Can't get a mouse to work

#1 Post by hazelem »

i wouldn't be here if i were a happy dog with windowsMS OSes, but:))

not recognising ANY of the mice i had offered to CD-puppy on TWO
different machines is too-hard-a-bone for my elderly teeth. ( i had
tried all reiterations...- AND keyboard is dead under X-system)

*else: tying up a 'crap-directory' and trying to configure a sound card
at bootup are both totally irrelevant if you have no inputs/outputs -
for most serious users even unconditionally so.
facit: set your priorities and you'll grow up to a hound.

sorry, but puppy didn't give me a chance to have a run with it !

machines are top PCs of a five-year vintage
(...very 'standard' specimens, now running winXP).

after a longer absence from location)

pertains to LIVE_CD PUPPY:
eventually got either a USB or a PS2 mouse to work upon bootup
by selecting the second option from the boot-menue (2. > ACPI=ON).

why is the default boot-option set to 1.>ACPI=OFF ? ....compatibility
with old machines could be an aspect, but i think you should comment
the boot options - for sake of many who may not come up with ideas
to tamper with boot options.

attaching a system_stats file generated by DamnSmallLinux ....where
do i find one in PUPPY ?
...and ,yes, i'd love to be sending this post from PUPPY, but i couldn't
configure PPPoE. (i'll post this problem separately.)
