Some look nice, but it's a shame - like most people, he's included apps that require either GNOME, KDE, Python, QT, etc...
Not really 'light' or 'small' enough for me..

2) gimp
3) gnumaric
4) wine + LTSpice
5) QCad
6) DDD
7) um ... er ... um ... er
I ran out of ones I would say off the top of my head.

SUUM CUIQUE.
My favorites are the only ones the linux kernel knows about: /sbin/init, /bin/sh (and the obsolete /linuxrc). Actually, if init and sh are links to /linuxrc, then you can have a complete system consisting of just one binary: /linuxrc. You do need the special device /dev/console to go with that though. Everything else is just gravy!
