#1 Post by fernan »

Hi,

Any experience with this kind of adapters in Puppy (I'm running 5.2.5) on a Toshiba Satellite Notebook. Printer is an HP LaserJet 5L.

Thank's :)

No. But if you are willing to risk the $8.00, let us know how it turns out.

I use a usb to parallel adapter to hook up a xerox lazer P12 printer to my desktop PC with no problems.
Hope that helps you.
Also, no additional drivers are needed other than the one for the printer.

These adapters work under Puppy Linux

I've successfully installed a Seikosha SP-2400 with a USB to Parallel cable under Slacko. This is how I've done it:
  • Open "CUPS" page
Click on "Adding Printers and Classes"
Select "Add Printer" under printer printers
Select "SCSI printer" under local printers
    Click on "Continue"
Type the following next to "connection": parallel:/dev/usblp0
    Click on "Continue"
Follow the rest of the instruction as you would as if it was connected to a parallel port
Note: You use IBM-ProPrinterII-ibmpro.ppd as ppd file for a Seikosha SP-2400
