MP3/Ogg encoder for Puppy?

#1 Post by pa_mcclamrock »

Can anybody here tell me if there's a good MP3/Ogg encoder that can be used on Puppy 5.2.5? (I just want to turn some WAV files into MP3s and Oggs.) If so, thanks in advance!
It's stupid to use inferior software for ideological reasons.

Audacity with lame works pretty well.

ffconvert works great- plus there are plenty of bash scripts out there that for conversions like these- all of the ones i've tried had all the dependencies they required. There is actually an update to 5.2.5 that contains ffconvert (and some bug fixes)- you can find it in the first post of the official 5.2.5 thread, or just install ffconvert separately.

The Puppy-friendly application for what you want is Pawdioconverter. Get it here -

For MP3 conversions Pawdioconverter uses lame, which Puppy 5.x already contains.

For ogg conversion you will need to install oggenc, from here -

If you want to create your MP3/ogg files from CD, use pcdripper
Menu > Multimedia > Multimedia
