Geoffrey. Sorry while you wrote your post, I made my announcement of Polarpup-002.
But it will be on the next Puppy I make. Probably wont take long......

Polarpup-002 has been uploaded. See the first post.

I missed the boat, not to worry, I won't upload it just yet, there maybe some other things I can do with it before I do.

I was having a bit of a read about your Polarpup-002, I think I'll give that a go sounds quite good.

Dear Pemasu, do you have compiled Qt4 statically? static qt4 libs help to build qt4 static apps you can use also where (like in Puppy 3.01) you are unable to build qt4 libs (in puppy 3.01 devx, containing gcc 4.1.2, it is not possible to build qt4, due to tool old compiler version)

I did compile them on 2.14X statically and should work on puppy 3.0
give it 1hr to upload. http://www.smokey01.com/ttuuxxx/2.14X/iso-sfs/qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.6.3-i386.pet

Thank you Ttuuxxx. I will make an announcement of your static Qt-4.63 on the first post so that people who are interested of compiling standalone Qt apps can find it there.
I will pm Dingo also later when you have uploaded your package.
Thank you again.
I just thought today that I should do that static compile and package it, but now I dont have to, lol.

Tempestuous announced new gtkpod-package for ipod, ipod-touch and ipad. The Gstreamer and gtkpod pets include same libs as I have installed but newer versions.
There is also plain music Player Eina, which uses Gstreamer libs.

Because of the recent turmoils in this nice forum, I have wallpaper which reflects the situation.

I forget to rename the wallpaper, but here it is what I thought it looks like.
And I support the basic idea. This post is just how I thought the penguins feel in that isolated iceberg.

Billtoo and Jim1911. Good to hear that it behaves.
Jim1911. Nice that the laptop of your wife gets good ride. I have no business to test puppies in the laptop of my wife. She has work laptop and strict restrictions of the use of her laptop. No way to install anything into it, no flash, only basic applications and her work stuff. I have tried to persue her to use Puppy from usb stick so that she could listen music, wathch movies and play flash videos for no avail.

PostPosted: Sun 10 Jul 2011, 17:23    Post_subject: PolarPUP is BIG (and I don't mean its size!)

This is a very very good clean, well structured, distro. Thanks.

I enclose 2 reports. 1 referencing "at Boot" and the otehr referencnig video adapter "After Probe".

I sweltering in 90+ temps at night and looking at an Iceberg. Wow.

Before running off, I assume your JRE still is the way to go for PolarPUP and those of us who run Live media systems. Right, Mate?

Hope this provides insight.

Gcmartin.
The same java pet should be working currency still. If you install it and want to test something I have, there is in the Pets folder in the Smokey01 ftp site one more music app, jukebox called Jajuk.
I just tested that it works.
