I try to slow down on my posting so I managed to stay silent for a month on this thread but then I thought. Wow pemasu is so good at doing this that I have to take a look so I booted the latest version of Polar pup and it just worked. So thanks for giving it to us.

As always these newer kernels run hotter than the older ones. I am in Snow 5 now and cpu temp shows 48 C while on Polar or Midnight sun or Ice puppy then are always 52 C and teh fan is running wild.

So could be me have to do something you told me way back in time and most likely I wrote it down in a file for such but to find it again.

I am not that kind of person that find such things.

Anyway I love that you are so productive. The future looks bright with such Devs.
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

Jim3630. I have no idea. The Qt4libs provided as pet includes the usual libs needed. I used Barry Kaulers included set as model.
To have the full set I have used in Polarpup means much larger pet. I havent done that...yet.
I focus now in Polarpup with inbuild Qt4 libs. Maybe later I start to provide them as separate working solution for Ice Puppy, Snow Puppy and Midnight Sun Pup.

Bear in mind that those other my puppies have already older Qt4 libs in /usr/lib due to vlc, umplayer and scribus. I dont think it is useful to install another set of those Qt4 libs to the /opt. To have double set of Qt4 libs makes the bug chasing more difficult.
And I would like to leave those other Puppies as they are. Just upgrading but not making major overhaul in basic structure.

It is good to know that I should provide that Qt4 libs set used in Polarpup to have fully functional Qt4 library for others to use. I should provide that full set at future.

So...I concentrate to the Polarpup with inbuild Qt4 libs which are in /opt as default and I leave /usr/lib free of them.

sounds good, my mistake using extra libs in MN 03. do like the qt effects in the applications gives a certain flair.

Jim. Yes. I could provide those Qt apps needed to handle gtk behavior. That is good idea. I will keep that in mind when I next start to upgrade them. I think I have a set which have those Qt apps included. It might be possible to expand those existing Qtlibs with Qt handling apps easily.

Polarpup 002 is in now package creation process. Lets see how huge it will be.

Multimedia apps so far:
Gstreamer libraries, fairly extensive support.
Smplayer
Umplayer
Clementine
Qmmp, as separate pet, I have small collection of fairly classic winamp style skins.
Handbrake
Minitunes
Deadbeef
Pmusic
Qx11grab
As separate pets I can offer Cuberok and YaRock

Browser Firefox-5.0, there isnt as good Qt browser, so why bother with poorer one.

For pics:
Gimp
Viewnior
Fotoxx
Ufraw
Exiftool
Geeqie
Converseen
EasyImageSizer
Qcomicbook
As separate sfs there is Xnview sfs

It uses 26.6 woof so it is fairly recent. Basic Puppy apps are of course also included.
Yad, updated gtkdialog, latest bacon.
01mickos updated wall paper setter with pic preview. It is first gtkdialog app announced using new gtkdialog properties.
Just now remembered, that there is stu90`s small gtk theme maker and Geoffrey`s improved menumaker. I will add them also.

Oh yeah kernel. Dont know yet, but I suppose it will be 2.6.38. Probably I will first use conservative i486 without highmem+pae, so that Beem have possibility to test this one with his Medion. Lol.

Hi Pemasu,

Though not the right place to ask, but as I read that you made a fix for Shinobar's sfs load-on-the fly. was wondering whether

- you uploaded it ? and if so, -where ?

Thanks in advance.
Nancy Reagan

Can't wait to get rid of the nolapic addition to the kernel line.
You'll be the first to know if successful.

Nancy Reagan. I have uploaded that fixed version in luci 260 thread. Since I wasnt the one who found the error and the one who confirmed the error, I havent been very active with it.
But here it is.

First test version of Polarpup 002 now under my fingers. Seems to work ok.
I will make the iso about 250 Mb which is not bad since gstreamer libraries are big.
The kernel is what Beem is waiting. Works ok.

Marco07. Checkup build now number 2. Everything seems to work. The iso size will be 256 Mb.
I have used this day to add missing rox right-clicks for new applications and updated jwm, icewm and gtk themes. Backgrounds are somewhat reduced but they are all new. I had to save some Mb's eventhough the build is big. Qt4 libs and Gstreamer libs takes a lot of space. And these new Qt multimedia apps are not so small also. Fotoxx with full support take also space but I want to make quite full multimedia experience.

Now I hope I have everything together to make final build.

pemasu,

If it's not to late, I have updated menumaker but have not uploaded it yet.

I added the ability for Opera to open a new window, added code to check if it was the default browser, all the other browsers,
use "-new-window" as a option wheres Opera uses "-newwindow", just thought that you would like that as the are a lot of Opera user's.

I missed the boat, not to worry, I won't upload it just yet, there maybe some other things I can do with it before I do.

I was having a bit of a read about your Polarpup-002, I think I'll give that a go sounds quite good.

Dingo wrote:Dear Pemasu, do you have compiled Qt4 statically? static qt4 libs help to build qt4 static apps you can use also where (like in Puppy 3.01) you are unable to build qt4 libs (in puppy 3.01 devx, containing gcc 4.1.2, it is not possible to build qt4, due to tool old compiler version)
I did compile them on 2.14X statically and should work on puppy 3.0

Thank you Ttuuxxx. I will make an announcement of your static Qt-4.63 on the first post so that people who are interested of compiling standalone Qt apps can find it there.
I will pm Dingo also later when you have uploaded your package.
Thank you again.
I just thought today that I should do that static compile and package it, but now I dont have to, lol.

Tempestuous announced new gtkpod-package for ipod, ipod-touch and ipad. The Gstreamer and gtkpod pets include same libs as I have installed but newer versions.
There is also plain music Player Eina, which uses Gstreamer libs.
