Dwnld & installed version 1.0 !!! :-) Works just fine with QT4 already installed.
This is hot !
Now LMMS, Audacity, ZynaddsubFx, QJackCTL, Qsynth, etc... And I'm cooking.
You save me the hassle of making a new pupitup. ;-)

Eztuxer. Keep me informed, what you are doing. I would like to update Qt4 pet repo with more stuff and it looks like you have the know how to those above mentioned apps. I have seen QJackCTL in the Qt4 web site but havent even downloaded the source.

LMMS is already in the repo by the way.

LMMS runs fine and Musescore 1.0 is perfect the preceding version was jerky under Linux, so I used 1.0 (windblow$) and wine before.
Now it even has the off line manual (musescore_DOC-1.0.pet).
I have tried ZynaddsubFx, it works but I don't think it's the latest version (zynaddsubfx-2.2.1-i386.pet).
Keep beefing up your .pet repository please. :-)

Eztuxer. Do you mean third party extra driver which you install as pet in Lupu. If so, no wonder it does not work. I have totally different kernel with Polarpup. It means that there is need to compile that missing driver.
Could you post the result of: lspci -nnv in console

I would like to know also what is the module driver name which is loaded in Lupu. It probably needs also right firmware to be loaded.

I am quite sure your wireless should be fairly easy to get working.

Tested on my Acer D250 Netbook 10" screen seems to work fine.
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

I did the same swap as I did for 525 = unloaded and blacklisted the rt2800usb module, then loaded the rt2870sta module and adding to list.

I just found out this :

Posted on 8 Aug 2011, 19:58 by BarryK
Re driver preference
Regarding the preference "rt2800usb:rt2870sta", I rewrote the code that handles that in Woof, but Lucid is built with an old version of Woof prior to that rewrite.

You might want to inform tempestuous that Drake Puppy 0.3 has the 2.6.39.3 kernel. Search my blog for "drake" to learn more.

pemasu has also built some puppies with the 2.6.39.3 kernel.

Drake is built from a very recent Woof, and I expect that the driver preferences mechanism is working.
Thanks to a post fro aarf about 3 headed dog.

This box has worked without problems on all versions from puppy 2 up until Iguleders Squeeze4991 which wouldn't even get this far, and of course Squeeze5x1 which dismally failed to reload after install (i'm yet to try 5x2 on it).

EDIT: no 5x2 also breaks!

I want to move the box out of testing and use this box for Development Only and thus your Polarpup with QT4 will be perfect for QT4 App's and the complete Puppy QT Desktop Environment i'm working on.

any idea where to go from here?

thanks

scsijon. Only idea so far is that Linus removed longer delay for usb 1.0 which affects at bootup handling. There might be problems with some cd rom devices also. At bootup the handling time is too short. You should check if you have problems with Barrys built 2.6.39 distros, like Drake-003 and 2.6.39 kernel built experimental wary. The links have been in Barrys blog.

Eztuxer. I dont know if woof used Polarpup-0.0.3 has recent enough version. I use the latest when I create the build, but Polarpup-0.0.3 is older than the woof used to build Drake-0.0.3.
Still....it is also possible that just your needed firmware is not present. You should see in lupu the firmware loaded info, when you boot lupu and then check dmseg info in console and....try to find appropriate rows about wireless firmware. There are gui tools also to load the message in gui window. Sysinfobox inside PupControl-1.6.1, 8-bit new tool, maybe LHP-sysinfo also.

Polarpup-004 has been uploaded. The ISO size has reduced to the 218 Mb due to xz compression. Using 18.8 woof and updates through it.
Firefox 6.0, Webrender and Lightweight2 browsers, Umplayer 0.97-svn, which has working Youtube searching API parser, Gnome-Mplayer and Gecko-mediaplayer 1.05b1, Pupradio 0.11, Feff (Front end for Ffmpeg) added, Pidgin 2.10, Radkys PupApplications updated to the latest. Great Sysinfobox2, Right clicks updated using don570 great pet as model.
Themes changed and reduced somewhat, Jwm themes more redundant. Wallpapers changed somewhat. Pnethood, Pprocess, Precord, Guvcview also updated. Some other updates also.

For multimedia experience, Gimp, Fotoxx, Geeqie, Clementine, Minitunes, Deadbeef, Qmmp, Handbrake still included. Only Smplayer removed, it has same core as Umplayer.

Download and enjoy. http://smokey01.com/pemasu/Polarpup-004/

Hi pemasu

Abiword not working from desktop icon, menu or console.

sh-4.1# abiword
abiword: error while loading shared libraries: libwv-1.2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
sh-4.1#

The above probably means more to you than me.

Not a major issue for me but thought I'd better let you know.

Otherwise P004 seems very nice and extremely fast.

Thanks again - very best regards - Ray

Confirmed missing libs related to Abiword (libwv-1.2.so.3 which is linked to libwv-1.2.so.3.0.1). Grabbed them from Lucid 528 and Abiword now works.

Everything else appears to be working on initial boot of a fresh frugal install.

e17 windowmanager pack. Compiled using magnificent Iguleders build scripts. Svn 62731 version.
It is one pet which has all needed. Install the pet and use Menu > Desktop > Wm switcher.
I includes system changes files also and it has modified /usr/sbin scripts also.
No additional themes, default lookout, so it will need tweaking after install. I added couple of wallpapers, but they are in Polarpup already.

About 8 Mb.

E17 has been stable in my Polarpup so far. I have made my tweaks to the default lookout. I removed edge bindings, added my needed stuff to the bottom ibar and included Engage module to the up, so that it autohides if window content overlaps it. I added my used apps to Engage. It is now easy to edit when it exists already. I added blue theme (MPelectric) and it takes most space in pet, about 95 %. So you can think this as one theme pet with extra tweaking.

I know that Engage module at up is not for everybodys liking, but...I am not like everybody, believe me, lol. It just suits me that I have app launcher at up and also taskmanager switcher in it to switch quickly between tasks. I think it is handy. Okay, it pops up unintentionally, but hey, you cant get everything.

I have now uploaded the fixed Polarpup-004. I hope it works now better. I added Ymount into it.
And I havent changed to e17. I just compiled it to have extra wm. Jwm, Icewm and e17 are those which I use now.
E17 is not included to the Polarpup-004. It is additional pet which people can test. Still using same e17 session without crashes. Seems to work for me.
