The next Macpup is still a way off but here is a shot of the beginning of it.

Precise 5.2.60 beta with EFL 1.2.2 and e17 71440....

oooooooooooooooo....I love the wallpaper!

But the ibar theme doesn't match very well.

Is the next one based on precise puppy? Or are you going to stick with lucid.

I'm really wondering what will happen to all the lucid puppies, once the
10.04 LTS sees the end of it's life cycle.

I intend to build the next macpup on precise. It's time to move forward. But then again Playdaze could put out a new lucid with a 3.2.x or newer kernel. Who knows.....

No, no please build it on top of precise.
There are so many new programs that are being developed and leaving gtk2 behind.

Gimp2,8, Audacious...etc;

The only thing I want to know is, how will precise based puppies run on old computers?

As you can see. I still have a apt-get dist-upgrade pending later. I will probably do this after this post.

The only problems I see with running latest stuff is minimum requirements for like latest firefox and flash on older computers.

So newer libs and Xorg is kinda of a must to keep up with changes with newer applications like browsers and flash.

Also. I know that any puppy based on Puppy 520 just won't boot on some older computers without a kernel panic. So one needs to go with a retro based puppy version instead. So I guess what I am saying basically is. I run OK with this setup on this old laptop. But time marches on and requirements for certain apps are just out stripping the legacy gear which really. One either has to live with or move on to something else.

I will be ready to test Precise Macpup when runtt21 tells me it is ready. I will first test on my eeepcs and Acer Aspire One Atom and Celeron NetBooks. Then on my P3 gear after. I sold all of my P2 gear. I Just bought a 100 disk stack of cdr's at Wally World runtt21 so no sweat for disks in case my PLOP Floppy won't boot MacPup Precise on USB 1.1 with no usb bios support.

After I did the dist upgrade. During upgrade I pulled in Flash 11.2. This broke flash for me on that IBM A22M computer. My browsers are current though. So I had to go to Adobe legacy flash download page. I downloaded Flash 11.1 to my laptop. Extracted libflashplayer.so from it.

I did a

locate libflashplayer.so
in terminal to find the path which was /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so in AntiX.

I deleted the libflashplayer.so in there and put in my 11.1 libflashplayer.so I extracted in /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree directory in it's place. I then locked down flashplayer-nonfree in synaptic package manager so it would not upgrade flash anymore on that laptop.

On My M/C shop Desktop which is a P4 Emachine with 1 gig of ram. The Flashplayer upgrade to 11.2 worked fine. So you see. Hardware makes a difference now a days on what works and what does not work when it comes to flash at least.

Sorry if I got a bit off topic here runtt21. Just figured the info would be useful later for people with old gear.

Rok, I don't bother with flash. It glitches and lags and slows down my entire pc. It's not worth the effort.

That's why I use addons and javascripts to play multimedia online.
It's faster and without the hassle.

I guess I got used to using flash because I need it on my more powerful netbooks and Desktops to run HuluDesktop .

I have not delved into using http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/50771 on my older gear yet. Still have some things to learn I guess.

Raster has added several new backgrounds to the current svn builds. I have packaged them up for macpup.

The wallpapers-1.pet is in the macpup 528 folder on my macpup page. Enjoy !! Very Happy
