Subject description: 4.x versiions not booting on some older equipment

Newest ISOLINUX 4.3 as used in puppy 5.2.5 hangs on first line of text echoed to screen and will not continue to successful boot.

Equipment effected: Dell Inspiron 7500
Puppy 5.2.5 & Ubuntu 11.04 (and other distro's using Isolinux 4.x)

A workaround is to replace the 4.x version of isolinux (and sometimes the config file) with any 3.x version as found in earlier puppies (eg. 4.3.1)

I saw this symptom on my Intel D510MO as well. Hung right in the beginning. Thought it was a different issue at first, the problem with booting while there is no hard drive in the system. Haven't tried the earlier ISOLINUX yet, thanks for the tip.

I was unable to try this because I can't do anything to the original 525 ldlinux.sys. Can't rename it, delete it, chmod it, anything! Even if I boot 431 and mount the 525 flash drive, I still can't mess with that file! Mad
