ProView-0.2.0pre1 - Renamed Photo/Image/Movie manager

#1 Post by goingnuts »

ProView-0.2.0pre1 is a Photo/Image/Movie manager. I have renamed the application from p**nview as I believe that must have been a spelling failure from the original developer...and maybe prevented a greater usage of this nice application...

It manages your Photos but is also capable of viewing movies if you have mplayer present...
Full screen slide show and image read/write tags & notes also possible.
Configured to show tiff & gif as well.

This is a static build so should work on most versions.
There are also a pet here with the original naming.

Update 20120928: The source can be found here
Attached used patch as well...

Where on earth did you get the sources for this? perhaps the original name was chosen to convey easy one-handed operation. It looks pretty cool none the less.

Can you provide a patch?
It looks like GTK1.2 - is that why you've compiled it statically?
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

The static builds with musl/uclibc, tinyx11and gtk1.2 use <2Mb of RAM on average. glibc and standard Xlib with dependencies use more on their own with just their dirty pages. Overall binary sizes aren't much bigger than the shared glibc builds if you use the right CFLAGS (its a really long explanation). Bottom line, I can run most of these on my old 32mb pentium 233 and should be able to run them on any 32bit linux system I come across for years to come and won't break even if Ulrich Drepper and his shared library FUD comes back to maintain/break glibc.

Source location added to first post...
The original name might have had a purpose - I think this app deserves a broader usage - and I do not like to have menu entries or window names popping up with names like the original...

The patch attached in first post. Its GTK1.2 - the static build is to make it "everlasting" or usable by past and future puppies..
