ok thanks for your comments. Ive just tried to full hd install it on another old pc. it runs ok on live cd but the installer is looking for a pupbang.sfs rather than the dpup-009.sfs, my fault for changing the distro_specs file wrongly so fails. So i may need to remaster again and reupload.
Yeah i only just saw and downloaded BK's squeeze today, it runs nicely. this would have been a smaller simpler base to work with. Ohh well :D

Hello cagwait
I like your pupplet too, but I am french and I can't get the fr keyboard. When i choose "fr" in setup keyboard-wizard, i can't write no more anything.
What can I do ?
Do you know what are the pets i have to install to get cairo-dock ?
Great job ! - Thanks petihar

Totally crazy suggestion from a Swede. Have not tested it to get French.

But as a work around one can open Terminal/Console/ Urxvt whatever name it has and write

setxkbmap fr and see how that works out.

Another crazy suggestion. Look if there is two choices. Here in Sweden we have two choices. Different set ups of latin. Some have Euro sign and others have not.

So what if they have one Fr for France and one for Canadian French spealkking maybe needing Canadian Dollar sign? Just me running wild suggestions.
Could we only applickable to swedish though. We can even use a Finland keyboard to get åäö So we are lucky. Three different keyboards and all of them word almost for everything we need.
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

Hi there from the pupbang live desktop. Have been running this a bit of late and find it mostly groovy. One wee thing is that when it starts up on this ThinkPad the mic starts squealing - maybe the default is turned up to max in the mixer? Afraid I find the Retrovol config window somewhat baffling. Workround is to mute the sound with the mute button.

Also find that the keyboard comes up with sundry odd characters unless I do 'setxkbmap us' - need that | symbol.

Requires copying the 3 files used for installation to be copied to another directory whilest livebooting this distro renaming the sfs file from the iso cd to pubang-001.sfs then letting the installer search for the directory in which you have placed these files and installation can be done. The grub install fails so download grub4dos and make sure when partioning to mark flag as boot for grub4dos to work correctly.

Otherwise this is a good pupplet and very low on resources the work done to install was worth it for such a low ram using os.https://archive.org/details/Puppy_Linux_pupbang
