Forum problem-change email address--unusual[Solved]

I tried changing my email address yesterday.

I changed it to another email address which I have had for a while.

I received a message that it was being used by another user.

Is there a way to find which user is using it?

There is a possibility that I set up another account early on, and I have forgotten it.

About what e-mail address are you talking?
P.S. altho you can sent PM's to another member, this isn't considered an e-mail address.

as I read this you should contact Flash and tell him in PM all the detail and he can sort it all out.

Again, here there are no e-mail addresses. Only userid's.
As far as I know, once someone has one, it stays there forever.

So can you please reply at the question asked if you are talking about userid's or e-mail addresses.

The forum does not allow two users with the same email address. Anyway it's not supposed to.

Flash but the IP addresses would show if they come from different countries or so or if it is the same person having forgot that he already has an account here?

Anyway sending out a email to that address would allow the one owning it to confirm them being the real owner so it should be rather easy to sort out would it not?

unless both of them know that password to log in?

I gave FLASH the email address. So he could send me an email to that address.

If it is an old account I've forgotten about, that can be easily changed.

If somebody else is using it, I doubt if there is much that can be done about it. If somebody else is using it, well, they are not really using it. Maybe? Unless they know the password.

I'm still thinking it's an old account of mine. I really don't know why a hacker would want THAT account.
Edit: I created a new email address, so I could receive all my forum emails into one email address. My old email address is no more. I didn't hear from FLASH after I submitted a request!

Ubume I have no idea where in the world you live but here we are from the whole world so when I am awake then it is night for Flash so I am lucky if I be awake when he is awake at all. So 6 hours are too fast.

I would give him at least 24 hours to respond.

Sorry Flash. :( I know you can't drop everything and answer a concern of mine. Me too impatient. Just wanted to get all my forums into one email. I took care of the problem. Thanks.

I notice under this user id, I joined in Feb 2011. I know I had a user ID before that. That other one is probably mine, but for the life of me, I don't know what it was. Think it had pup in it, and maybe ubu something. Anyway, I'll let that go. Thanks again.

In the Puppy Linux forum you are allowed to edit your own posts, including the subject line.

For the record, I did look into it and couldn't find a way to search forum members by their email addresses. So I couldn't find your alter ego. :)

Don't get me wrong now. Cool that it got solved.
I remember one day when I was very proud of that I actually managed to put a solved there like you have now then some friendly Moderator told me that I should put it last and not first. On other forums I had been taught that one always put it first :)

voi I got so sad I almost died. I guess that I am too sensitive to criticism. That is life some are tough and others are wimps like me.

I prefer that "Solved" be put at the end of the subject line. When I'm searching for a particular topic, it slows me down if the first word in the subject line is "Solved."

I think that when the forum sends you a notification, it uses your forum name. Send an email to the address the forum wouldn't let you use. If it is you, I think the message you get will use the forum name you forgot. If it's someone else, you'll find out who it is. So be nice. :)
