Looks minimal and beautiful :)
Can you tell us a little about Conky Lua please :?:

John who sponsors and runs this forum has his own Lua
which has not been seen in Puppy for a few years

Hi Sheepy,

This beautiful simplicity is certainly appealing.

Can you tell us some more about Slimpup, like
* what Puppy is it based on?
* is that Chromium in one of the Softpediia screenshots?
* what makes Slimpup 150MB? (I've seen slimmer puppys  )

Thanks.

SlimPup 2.4

Thanks for the new release. I burned a CD and booted it up. It is a lot more sharper on commands and the new Wallpapers are nice. I will test it more tonight and give you a better report.

I want to ask if you could make QtWeb as your default browser?
Could you add PupApps under PupControl? I would make it much easier to use.

Thank you for putting your time and skills in the PUPPY Family of releases. Each one gets better and please the size you have right now is perfect and do not let anyone discourage your work. I myself did not understand the release to start with but the more I use it the better it gets. Thanks and please keep up the good work.

Well, basically, you have the Conky config load the lua script, which gives the rings. The lua script is in /root/.lua/scripts/
There, the script is modified to change the appearance of the rings, their placement, their transparency, their size, their function, etc.

It was based off the first version of RexBang (he inspired me, check it out ;) ), which is based off Lucid.
Those set of screenshots are from when they first added SlimPup to Softpedia, and they have never changed them since, lol. Yes, that is Google-chrome, but I decided to remove it a few updates ago, to give the user more of a choice for their browser, and free up some space.
150mb seems like a pretty nice size for a Puplet to me. It still contains most built-in apps that Lucid comes with. When I say SlimPup is slim, I mean it in the sense that the environment is very lightweight and its appearance is very minimalistic.

SLimpup is using isolinux 4.03 which has incompatibilities with some older machines (at least one of my test machines anyhow) and will not boot. replacing it with isolinux version 3.x (ie any version prior to 4.x) and set it as the boot image works great though.

:(

Hi Sheepy, just saw SlimPup 2.6 listed on Softpedia. Are you going to post it here also with any changes? Thanks, Rob

Hi Sheepy,

I'm settimg up Slimpup 2.4 on my venerable laptop ( 400Mhz P2, 198Mb RAM ! ) Things are looking good so far, I installed Laptop Goodies and have got Frisbee to launch from the ' connect ' icon, but I'm a bit stuck with getting the battery status working. I can't work out how to make the bottom tray bar appear, which the batery status displays in. Rather a useful piece of info on a laptop, I'm sure you'll agree! Did you remove it, or just disable it? TIA

You can still check the battery info by opening up the app called hardinfo (it's also in the control panel) and clicking on "battery."
It does not appear in the tray because there is no panel. If you would like to utilize the tint2 panel, just add a tint2rc file in /root/.config/tint2

sheepy, I couldn't use the 3.3 version due to the size that is listricted by MU's xp installer.(Unetbootin didn't work)

So I tried to download 2.4 version of yours but Softpea and sourceforge all pointed to 3.3 version.

Is your 2.4 smaller than 300mb?

If so, any chance to get it?

Here it is. It is less than half the size of 3.3 :D
