Seems that is what you want:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/3.x/release/src/waitforX.c | That was it, but turns out that my static-uclibc-getenv version of waitfor{display} worked out fine, though the usleep in tinycore's version may be a good addition
My startup times were:
5.1878500s Xorg
0.1434860s Xvesa-shared
0.0983872s Xvesa-static
times calculated using date +%s.%N >>/root/times
(prior to the X command and as the jwm <StartupCommand>)
Here is a copy of the static waitfordisplay, should anyone care to test it out.
Xvesa -screen 1024x768x24 & waitfordisplay && jwm -display :0 || killall Xvesa
or Xorg
Xorg & waitfordisplay && jwm -display :0 || killall Xorg

Gonna have a look at this soon.
In the mean time, I've been busy stealing shinobars work on localisation.
I figure I will add much better support for Spanish, German and French.
So far, I have:
- added puppydesktop_NLS system (already mostly in place)
- created/added these translations for german, french, spanish:
- boot manager, chooselocale, check_deps, connectwizard, connectwizard_2nd, pkg_chooser, install_preview
- updated .mo files to match new scripts, bootmanager wont break if .mo outdated
I would greatly appreciate any guidance in this area!
Blame Google for the poor translations.. (And me, I edited bits...)

I ABSOLUTELY do not trust Google translate here:
| Code: | Loc_main_msg="Unmount /mnt/${1} now? Make sure ${1} is not being used."
Loc_was_unmounted="${1} was unmounted"
Loc_still_mounted="${1} still mounted"
Loc_already_unmounted="${1} was already unmounted" |
I want the above in French, German and Spanish, if possible. Please.

It doesn't look too bad to me, but others may do better.....
Je ne suis absolument pas confiance à Google de traduire ici:
Code:
Loc_main_msg = "Démonter / mnt / $ {1} maintenant? Assurez-vous que $ {1} n'est pas utilisé."
Loc_was_unmounted = "$ {1} a été démonté"
Loc_still_mounted = "$ {1} encore monté"
Loc_already_unmounted = "$ {1} a déjà été démonté"
Je veux que le dessus en français, allemand et espagnol, si possible. S'il vous plaît.

Ich absolut kein Vertrauen in Google hier übersetzen:
Code:
Loc_main_msg = "Unmount / mnt / $ {1} jetzt? Stellen Sie sicher, $ {1} nicht verwendet wird."
Loc_was_unmounted = "$ {1} wurde nicht gefasst"
Loc_still_mounted = "$ {1} noch montiert"
Loc_already_unmounted = "$ {1} wurde bereits gefasst"
Ich möchte die oben in Französisch, Deutsch und Spanisch, wenn möglich. Bitte.
-----------------
Estoy totalmente de no confiar en Google traduce en:
Código:
Loc_main_msg = "Desmontar / mnt / $ {1} ahora? Asegúrese de $ {1} no se está utilizando".
Loc_was_unmounted = "$ {1} ha sido desmontado"
Loc_still_mounted = "$ {1} siendo montado"
Loc_already_unmounted = "$ {1} ha sido desmontado ya"
Quiero que el anterior en francés, alemán y español, si es posible. Por favor.
--------------------------------
btw, it's just my sense of humour to include your bits....

German translation:
Loc_main_msg = "Jetzt / mnt / $ {1} einbinden? Stellen Sie sicher, dass $ {1} noch nicht verwendet wird."
Loc_was_unmounted = "$ {1} ist nicht eingebunden"
Loc_still_mounted = "$ {1} ist noch eingebunden"

Aahhh, das ist beßer.. Geil! Danke..
Jesus.. Google says this:
"es ist gefasst.. montiert.. eingebunden = it is taken .. mounted .. involved"
And I got other words, when I did it!
It is so hard to tell what is actually the natural, native usage!!
Makes me question how correct all the other bits I've done are gonna be!
And cheers Aitch, but are you sure that those are correct?
I really can't tell, as I have no native ear for these things!
(I'm gonna use them anyway, it's comprehensible, I'm sure.. and still better than what I got)

Welcome in the world of different languages . I often have this problem if I post here in the english part of the forum .
If you want good translations I would ask directly in the according sub forums.
For german I would try to help you AGAIC (as good as I can ). Post here or in the german thread or via PM.

Hi Scottman,
why not switch to brandnew super fast ymount ?
no loc variables, just plain gettext, some of them come in colors.
My regards

I am planning to use ymount instead of manually translating pmount (and updating the pmount script).
I am waiting for it to be rock solid, I wish I had time to get my hands dirty with it and give it a good test.
I have not yet had a good look at gettext..
I don't mind translating the stuff, I will have a good look at a few scripts to see how gettext works, and how I can use it to update the English only scripts in pup4 (so many...).
BTW, UTF-8 does not work in pup4 and I've not got it working.. I think not anyway!! I'm not actually sure
Don't know how to check..
I can set my locale to fr_FR.UTF-8, etc, and all seems to work OK, but I can't tell the difference between MUs 'simple localization' method, and shinobars i18n supported update - I've used both in scripts, with seemingly no effect.
Actually, I don't even know what i18n is, or what happens when it is supported (or not!) ... I feel a PM to shinobar coming on...

That does indeed help, thanks very much.. I'm sure I'll be needing some more help along the way.
- 01mickos Desksetup will be next for localization.
- then all those god damn .desktop files!
- open Wary511q, then steal localized pup-advert-blocker & others
I'll be releasing another alpha soon, maybe in 3 or 4 days, maybe a week - it will be a good chance to check and improve the translations. I may post the download link in the spanish, german and french threads, for a little help, once I have uploaded it somewhere.

Internationalization is making a program ready for localization.

Re: Internationalization |
|
Thanks very much for the links, I have a better idea of what is going on with all the internationalization and localization of scripts.
I want the most important scripts and programs to be available in English, French Spanish and German, as I said. This means all programs and GUIs needed for system settings and installation must be available in the above languages.
This includes firstrun, PPM, startups, toggle-rox-desktop, desksetup, connectwizard, xorgwizard, etc..
I would also like to include Russian as much as possible, but cannot do much with it. I do have a decent enough understanding of slavic/slavonic languages to use/check Google translations are not total bull****, but the Cyrillic alphabet is really slowing me down and making it impossible at times..
If you've NOT heard of the 'Slovio' constructed language, have a look, I wish I could include that!
I do not want to waste a lot of time.
I do not want to create translations that are already available.
So I kindly request the following .mo files, if they exist:
- advert-blocker: I can't find the updated script or the translations
- pupsaveconfig 1.9.9: fr, es
- connectwizard: ru
- connectwizard_2nd: ru
- frugalinstaller 1.4: es, ru,
- grub4dosconfig-1.6.3: es, de, ru
- xorgwizard: es,
- jwm: es, fr
(Please note, I have already searched the forums as much as possible, and looked at Wary511q..
I don't think LupQ would have any extra translations...)

This is from lupu-525, I think with language pack from shinobar.

Rolf
Edit: Just tested with pfix=ram: lupu-525 comes by default with localized Grub4Dos.
