My Rugged Little Puppy! Subject description: A PC I built that uses Puppy Linux
Just sharing with the community of people who might care; I'm very proud of my creation.
I built this Maker-oriented benchtop machine as a fun project and a prototype for possible future custom builds. I own a fully-rugged computer (A Panasonic CF-29) and was somewhat unimpressed by the ruggedness vs. cost & weight tradeoff. So I tried to make something that was "pretty tough" but still kept its cost factor under control.
This is built in a "Fat 50" ammo can, and while it's not in the pictures, you can disconnect all the cables and seal the waterproof can fully. All the components (motherboard, drive bay, power supply) can be removed easily for repair / upgrade / replacement.
Mass storage is currently a 16 gb CF card, and the OS is Puppy Linux 5.2.5 of course!
Thanks to all the Puppy Linux developers and enthusiasts who make this the most friendly and innovative distribution!
[Edit: Yes the pics say it was LuPu 5.20 but I upgraded when I went from a 4gb to a 16 gb CF card)] Last edited by Maker Dog on Sun 08 May 2011, 16:06; edited 1 time in total

Looks cool. Have a couple of Roky II Amrels that were submerged when house flooded. Still power up Though and run. My panasonic cf-48 would not have survived the same treatment (it was up on a table).
