I looked for more info on what you had installed and found the page you told us what you have there.

So this is my computer (it's an ibm thinkpad laptop)

Processor : Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Mobile CPU 866MHz
Memory : 254MB (167MB used)

I'm using Lucyd Puppy 5.2.5
You also told us you have Chromium 7 installed.

The "select default browser" button ? is in the tray so we have to find somebody who knows how to change what is in the tray.

We had such a thread just a few days ago. So the link in my signature should be able to find it. I take a look and get back withing say 10 minutes and report success or failure. In the mean while I am very curious about if you want to get rid of it due to you want to add something else there or just for estetic reasons? I go look now.

Partly a success but still no Cigar!

The official name of Tray seems to be Fbpanel or Lxpanel?????????

Each different "Windows Manager" seems to have its own name for it but the common thing for all is this

There is a fbpanel config under Desktop Settings.

You should be able to go to Menu > Desktop > Setttings and find something that allow you to config or edit what is in that fbpanel.

Hope that helps

I switched to JWM

If using JWM, you can edit /root/.jwmrc-tray

Change old command exec:browser-default, to new command.

in case you are like me and get confused seeing this
you can edit /root/.jwmrc-tray

I would click on File in the upper left corner on the Pinboard/Desktop the screen as we say over here in North Europe. :)

Then I would click in the Eye in the middle uppest row.
that allow you to see the .jwmrc-tray

Then you need to open it as text you do this by right clicking on it using your mouse and chose edit as plain text.

Hope that works.

alternative is to go Menu > Filesystem > Filemanagers > Rox and root and click on Eye icon in it.

Normally yes, but you didn't specify which puppy you use.
Always report this. And eventually the windows manager.

BruceB gave you the way to do it if your puppy uses JWM
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

I wild guess that Bruce did like me realizing one can look in profile and earlier entries if there is info on the gear used there and Bruce realized that Jwm it is now and not Lxde?
