Here's a .sfs for Kino, a simple lightweight movie editor. This is not as intuitive as windows movie maker, but once you "get" it, it's quite easy.



This has been made in true puppy fashion from a slackware package, with dependencies scrounged from all over the place, and included.

This has been tested in a clean fluppy install, which is puppy 4.3.1 based.

File size: 8.7mb. Extracted about 18mb.

Tips for Kino usage

The help files are included, press F1 or open from the menu.

Do NOT keep videos you are working with within your save file!!! Kino converts them to .DV files, which are 10X larger than the original videos. You will quickly run out of space. Work from in /mnt/home or another file system.

Basic scenario
====================
You have two clips (.mpg) , clip A and clip B. You want to play part of clip A first, then play part of clip B, and then another part of clip A.

File > Open, select the first clip. It will ask if you want to import it, select yes.

Open the second clip the same way. They will now both be in the storyboard on the left.

See the image attached below for some help in finding the right buttons for the following stuff...

Select the first clip in the storyboard. On the right, select "Trim". Press play, (at the bottom), when you get to the point in the clip you would like your movie to start, press pause. Press the black triangle which when you hover the mouse over it says "Set the in point to current position". Press play.

When you get to the point you would like to stop and switch to the next scene, press pause and then the black triangle which say "Set the out point to current position".

You can also drag the in and out points on the timeline to define which part of the clip you would like to use. When you are happy with you changes, click "Apply"

Select the second clip from the storyboard. This will now be shown in the Trim window. Edit it the same way.

Note that selecting which part of a clip to play does not permanently chop it, you can always open the trim window and change it again.

You can select the "Edit" tab at the right to view what your complete movie currently looks like.

Select the first clip in the storyboard, in the menu click Edit > Copy. Select the second clip. Select edit > paste. A third clip has now been added to the storyboard on the right.

Select it and Trim it like before.

Done! You can add transition effects, titles, and things like that from the FX tab on the right.

When your done you can create the video using the Export tab on the right.

I'm glad to hear that! It is a great program and well suited to puppy. This is for older puppies, such as puppeee, fluppy, 4.3.1 and probably older versions also.

It might just be some missing dependencies. Have you checked from the terminal?
