Hi there,
You're welcome, it's coming along. I'm aiming for an Alpha release by June 1. I've added Firefox 4.01, JWM vsvn-498, Pmusic 1.7, Retrovol 0.10, Wine-1.3.18, Nicoedit and htop. All are working well in Lighthouse 64. I also revamped the Wallpaper Setter and tweaked PPM for testing with Slackware64 and Salix repos, (thanks to 01micko.)

To answer your PM, Lighthouse 64 is based on Fatdog 64-511, however it retains the look and feel of Lighthouse and has numerous re-compiled apps, bug fixes, updated scripts, artwork and devx. It boots faster and feels snappier than LHP 5.03. Wine is based on sourceforge.net/projects/wine/files/Slackware Packages and I will try to update it to the latest, currently 1.3.20. That is an x86_64 build, but is a hybrid of both 32-bit and 64-bit binaries. I am running the latest Winamp in Wine which installs easily from their web site and the AVS visualizations even work for me in full-screen mode.

I have a long to-do list, including Psync, Startmount, Pburn, GKrellM, Opera, Chrome, CF/CD/Wbar, Xfce and KDE. Some of these probably won't make it into the first release of Lighthouse 64.

I like to use FatDog to watch Internet TV now that I have learn how to use it. It works great and is fast. But I have run across a problem with the Screensaver. It will not stop working, even if turned off. I found a fix at:

Can you upload the wine you now have working? Could you build a Firefox web-browser for the new release? Looking forward for the new release. Keep a good out look no matter if the bug fixes come like bunches of Bananas.

Not currently for Wine as the scripts are modified for Lighthouse 64 and untested in Fatdog. This Wine is a bit complicated and bulky due to the inclusion of both 32-bit and 64-bit libs. Will be nice when most everything is 64-bit and we won't need backwards compatibility--at least until 128-bit arrives!

I am testing firefox-4.01-x86_64 from ftp.mozilla.org along with dbus-1.4.1-x86_64-1 from Slackware64.

Hi Tazoc:

Keep up the great work. And thanks for the Frisbee link you provided to me on the Fatdog64 thread. I'll begin experimenting with Lighthouse 64 as soon as I can.

Hi l2ulinux:

Re 64-bit Browers. I downloaded the Opera64-bit tar.gz, unpacked it in mnt/home (which on my machine is formated Ext3) and, in Fatdog64, it ran without a hitch, including Youtube Flash Video. Did the same with Firefox's 64-bit Nightly Build. I could get it to run, but without flash. Then I made the mistake of allowing the Nightly to update. Now it won't run at all. I'll try again in a couple of days. Maybe the next build will fix whatever the last one broke. All in all, however, think positively about solutions in the near future.

I have IceCat 4.0.1 running but had to download libdbus-1.so.3 from debian stable and install and have it working but can not add any plugins. It has Flash and xine already pre installed.

It works fair with internet TV. Now that is using FATDOG64-511 .

Hi and welcome jamesbond, Very Happy

Just found this wikibooks page of PuppyLinux variants.

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Puppy_Linux/Puplets

Maybe could include Fatdog 64 also. Cool

TazOC

Yeah, I saw that before.
Question: should LightHouse be updated to show additional WMs available?

Hope this helps

P.S. Check your PM
I tried that, but it expanded the WM column way over for all the others, so I had to leave IceWM and LXDE out of that wikibook entry.

Got your PMs, will keep in mind; in fact I grabbed Shinobar's firstrun-1.8.2 today to see if I can adapt it for Lighthouse 64.

Hey Taz,

Have a new wallpaper. Hope you like it, it is a little bit different and darker. Put together using photos I have taken.

Cheers

Thanks, Jason. I think I can move the cool text across to the LR section so that the desktop icons won't cover it up. Very nice!
