Here is a screenshot of an error I keep getting while trying to load Pcdripper in Slacko 121.02. Clicking OK brings the dialog back up. Clicking "Quit" closes it. Lucid 5.2.5 didn't have Pcdripper installed, but LuPu 5.2 did, and I get the same error there. However, Pcdripper works in 4.3.1. A useful little program, one of the lightest ways to access CDparanoia I've ever come across...

I'd like to make a right click option package for spup
but there is a couple of things that need to be addressed.

I'd like it to be more like Wary.
For instance I'd like ghasher to be installed and in the same place
as Wary.

I'd also like you to include the nicoedit icon
/usr/local/lib/X11 mini-icons/nicoedit.png
which Wary has.

Also some Pups are now making a link between ROX's
'Send To' and 'Open With' Folders which seems to simplify things.
Jerimiah did this with Fluppy.

The fewer right click options you put in the easier it is for me
to make a right click option package.

Hi all

A new slacko/spot is imminent .. about 10-12 hours away.

There has been much going on under the hood but you probably wont notice.

I think I have most kernel issues sorted out, we are going to go with 2.6.37.6.. however I did like 2.6.35, just a little too buggy on some gear. USB booting is still problematic on 1/3 of my machines however progress has been made. I think I have done enough kernel tweaking, the problem may lie in the initrd.gz (init script)

Xorgwizard has been a major pain. I was hoping to go with a xorg.con/d setup which suits newer xorg but xorgwizard is too entrenched in Puppy at the moment so I have gone with a minimal xorg.conf ala playdayz in Lupu, with some of Barry's mods and some of my original mods.

*I think* I have flsynclient worked out for lappy users. Keyboards and mice will need heavy testing too. There are many updated progs and still some bugs I can't figure out, that stupid rox ntfs bug for one, while it works fine the error still shows and I have completely changed rox, so it might be an incompatibility with rox and the new kernels, IDK.

Sound will be an issue for some as there is a big experiment going on there. It works 5/5 on my gear but some tweaking is necessary on some setups. This is a learning curve for me (and you) but if we can iron out the bugs the new sound features will be a real coup for any linux, it's real cutting edge stuff!

I look forward to this. One of my tests when first deciding on a Linux distro is did sound recording work. Puppy was one that did. This facility was subsequently lost (mhwavedit has been with us for a long time) due to 'sound driver improvements' or some such, that did not seem to work.
Hopefully we can get it back.

Good luck with Spot Alpha 1 or Spup alpha 4.
Whilst you do all the work, remember to tell us what to focus on and test.
Our recordable CD's and RW-DVD's are on standby . . .

Nice little box for the money! I have a Turtle Beach dongle, not bad but no volume control for the headphone jack or RCA in-out. I think you just found my next sound card.

Also have a look at M Audio Transit, or Audiophile....though I believe the Audiophile only activates its RCA i/p & o/p when using music software, possibly keyed to supplied software, I don't know

There are some VERY expensive usb DACs about!

The Behringer is nice - only 48khz, but good phone output, and volume control and has ASIO support

I found that it would create a pet but when I opened it up,
it didn't have the right path structure.

So it's beyond my feeble abilities.

possibly just needs a wrapper script to cd into the dir containing the folder which will be made into a pet file.. (rather than just a symlink to the script itself)
